I just want to inform all involved purchasing switches only - if you're putting these switches into your XL, you need left and right clusters. They move elements around on the clusters when they took the cruise out, so you will end up with buttons on both sides that do the same thing, and completely missing buttons elsewhere. I'm at work now otherwise I'd take photos of both wheels to show you what I mean.
Thank you.

I cancelled my part order until I can gain more clarity.

Agreed that it definitely could be added as an option, but doing so would increase the base price (or a HUGE margin on the option) because of the losses on margins of the XLT upgrades.
You nailed it, and I'm surprised others don't recognize this common strategy --packages-- that all brands use. However some will sell some stuff individually, but not when they know what they can gain by not.
As I prefer both the interior and the more humble "steelies" (gotta love the euphemisms) especially painting them either the color of the car of something close to flat black.
What concerns me however --maybe you have some insight-- is the criticism I've heard about the sound system, and what's involved to fix that. I watched a video, and, no way for me...

Regarding the stereo. I can definitely see where people are coming from with the complaints, but I've been fine with it. Set to the defaults, it's definitely thin sounding. It has base-mid-treble adjustments. I bumped the mid about 25% and the bass about 50% and that helped a bit, but if you're looking for deep low ends you'll want to do some mods.
On the flip side, I think the clarity and sound staging have been pretty good. I'd chalk this up to the speaker placements in the C-pillars and on top of the dash.
All this said, I don't need much out of a car stereo as I'm usually listening to podcasts when I'm driving alone and keep the music pretty low when I'm driving with others.

I can confirm, once the cruise control button worked, the right side did not work any longer. Either find the right side switch or order an entire bronco sport or escape steering wheel, or find the right buttons.

Thanks! Work is going late tonight, and in that irritating way where its all hurry up and wait.

I ended up ordering the left cluster for my Escape wheel with the unwanted ACC control to try and salvage an otherwise expensive decoration LOL

Because these controls have to pass through the clockspring (that's how the interface is set up), I'm afraid it would be a nightmare to try and run these through anywhere other than the steering wheel :(
Perhaps we could run a little wireless interface: one tiny receiver unit in the orig XL steering wheel
to simulate the switch closures, and a coupla buttons on a dash or center console module.

This is based on the assumptions that:
  1. cruise switch block is switches only & wires go to electronics in dash sending CAN msgs;
  2. all XLs have wiring able to go to the cruise ctrl switches (i.e., "something to connect to")
  3. there's some place to get power inside the steering wheel.
(For #3, tiny BLE unit could run on CR2032 watch batteries or Size N lithiums, etc. for years.)

Cruise control is cool to not worry about - it always fails safe/off for many reasons -accel
pedal use, braking, etc.

I've had very similar results with approximately the same midrange and bass adjustments. I tried to center the sound a little behind the front seats to get more sound out of the rear speakers, but as you say, they are thin sounding, so it's back on the default balance settings..

I'm thinking about putting some better speakers and maybe an amp, but it would have to be the right ones. I had an El Camino back in the day I had the interior redone, so while it was torn apart (not much to it) I put in a Bose unit and loved the bright highs, pure clear mid ranges, and full sound bass—it was very well balanced and the California sound of the 60s and 70s really popped. At home I had just had added some Bose 601s to my Kenwood Amp and kept the Marantz as well. I love the bright full sounding Bose and the Marantz had a great low end with out vibrating us to death. I love good sounding bass, but hate when it rattles.

I know this thread is about enabling cruise on the XL and buying Escape steering wheels or switches. I get it that a used Escape steering wheel is less cost than a new one. But when buying new switches, why not think about purchasing the Maverick XLT switches. Looks like both right and left are available through Ford for about $106.

Just confirming that I now have Factory Cruise on my 2022 Maverick XL. Here are the pics. You can see it actually on in the photos I took on the way home today after spending the day over with
Tyvemattis.

He was having a little trouble at first but it now works and everything functions 100% and is probably the best bang for the buck. Its a learning curve and I think he was glad to try it on on my truck too.

Tyvemattis is a really nice guy and I probably could have stayed there bull$hitting with him for another 6 hours. Lucky I live close enough to drive over to him. If he gets this setup going where he mails the laptop and data cable out with instructions to those in need please know he is spot on about what he is doing and this is for real.
I guess I am one of maybe 3 now with factory cruise on the XL Maverick.

Thanks Dude !

Kudos to you @Tyvemattis for your work and assistance to give these folks a real mod option.

I have the Lariat so I’m all good, but I have been following your tread closely. Nice job!

Nice! I'm still happy with everything the xlt give me for the 2k, but the XL is such an awesome platform for customization on the cheap.
