Short question is subject line..
More detail:
I am extremely po'd as I write this.
I went to my nearest Ford Dealer in June and placed an order for a Velocity Blue Hybrid Lariat.
I received the confirmation email from Ford a week or so later and a follow up in Oct.
I've been following these forums for months to stay in the know of what's going on with production.
I decided to call the dealership this week to see if they had any news, I honestly wasn't expecting much since these forums seem to be more on top of things than most.
The dealer told me the order wasn't placed because they didn't get a copy of my drivers license and that Ford required it.
Grant it, they called after I placed the order and ask for a copy, but I didn't give it much attention figuring they just wanted my personal info.
Had they told me we won't place your order w/o it, I'd have got it to them.
So did you have to supply a copy of you DL for your order to be placed?

It was required with mine. I simply faxed them a copy with the signed order confirmation.

Yes it's required, I believe Ford corporate requires it for special orders so dealers can't manipulate the order system in order to get more allocated retail units ie, dealer places fake special orders to get more units for retail sale on the lot. Granted, the dealer should have completely explained why to you but it's not completely their fault as they did try to get your license.

Yes, all I did was snap a pic of the front and the back and text it to my sales guy.

Yes. I was told that Ford needed it to verify that it was a legitimate retail order, not a dealer jumping the retail line by ordering dealer stock using fake names.

Edit: I didn't apply for a loan.

Nope, didn't ask for mine. My Maverick is currently sitting 2 and a half hours away in a storage depot and my dealer is keeping me up to date. Not sure if the license requirement claims are bunk or if the dealership did me a favor somehow.

They took a copy of my drivers license front and back . They brought up picture of my house on google earth and had me confirm that's my home . They made up paper work and had me sign that it was my home and were I lived . And another that I would not resell or export the truck . I was a little shocked when the salesman turned his computer screen towards me and said this your house !! PS I am not taking out a loan so this has nothing to do with that.

Well, crap. Sounds like I'm screwed.
I was getting so gd excited knowing it was close.
I still don't get why the dealer didn't tell me straight up if you dont give us your dl, we aren't placing your order.
And why did ford send confirmation?
The only possible silver lining may be the fact I would prefer an AWD hybrid. Maybe they'll offer that next year.

Thanks for the quick responses

Yes we did. We got our email confirmation from Ford about 30 minutes after we left the dealership.

Retail/customer orders are generally prioritized over orders for dealer stock. Think about it, chances are that unit is sold as soon as it hits the lot, so those should come first. Ford put in a program to verify that a customer actually placed the order, because some dealers would place "customer" orders that were really for stock, to play the system. Even on an Escape order recently, they needed a scan of my DL.

The unfortunate part is for hybrid orders placed before the cutoff that never went through COVP, and were apparently canceled.

Yes, as others indicated it’s for order verification. Sorry, without that your order was never officially accepted by Ford.

I would still call Ford and ask if your order is in the system. There might be a chance it's there since you received the email confirmation.

A quick call to Ford customer service might make your day (y)
