But how many of these reservations turned into actual orders? Maybe 50%?
Probably

My initial reservation, the dealer has never contacted me. The next day, Granger posted their offer and I placed another reservation through them and got that order placed.

My question is what is the expected production per day goal of the plant, I haven't been able to see that but I haven't been a member long

I think I read somewhere on this forum or the other Mav forum that at peak production the Mexico facility can output 25K vehicles a month. Don't hold me to that though and hopefully someone else can chime in with some numbers as well.

While that’s sad for me (I didn’t order till 7/21,) it’s hopeful for everyone else

Just keep in mind that is peak production which in this day age with product shortages and supply constraints could be completely different. Also I believe that the Mexico facility produces more than just one Ford vehicle. There are other Fords models produced at the plant.

I have read the broncos converted Avira 2 of every 3 reservations. I would expect similar numbers even we are talking about such large volumes of numbers.

Hermasillo Plant has a capacity of about 18k units a month, so let’s split that in half for about 9,000 a month of the Mav (Bronco Sport gets the other half). Bronco orders had a 75% conversion rate from reservation, I’ll be more conservative and go with 50% conversion for Mav, so 40,000 orders. I am now going to assume that for every 4 retail orders (ours) they’ll build 1 stock, so they have about 50,000 orders to fill as of right now.

50,000 units will take about 6 months to go through, so, all that math leads me to be very thankful I ordered in June. 😀

I personally have 3 reservations with different dealers, but only ordered with the first one that contacted me... So there is that. ;)
I was thinking about doing the same, I think I will.

I wonder if that number combines retail and commercial?

I would not expect similar numbers to the Bronco as this reservation process was much different. There was no deposit and then when you made the reservation it really wasn't confirmed unless the dealer called you back. I had made more than one, as if you wanted to choose a different dealer, you just made a new reservation. As others have chimed in, they reserved 2 or 3 before finding a dealer they liked. I know I reserved more than 1 as my initial local dealer had no clue and then said they couldn't even be ordered until the fall. 50% might be optimistic!

I'm not sure that at volumes in the 10s of thousands that a similar % wouldn't stand. You have to remember that only a very small portion of buyers join forums like this, and we are the ones more likely to do things like you have, placing multiple orders or trying different dealers to get something asap.

Conversely, the vast majority of those 80,000 potential orders saw the Maverick, did some research and decided to put in a reservation. It is then up to the dealers to handle it correctly, but I do not expect that most people putting a reservation on a large ticket item only have the intention of kicking the tires! They are wanting to buy, thus at scale if Broncos converted at 2/3 reservations we'd likely see similar rates for the Maverick. I would definitely concede though it would probably be a little lower being that the Maverick is nowhere near as monumental a release as the Bronco has been.

Where did the OP get the word "reservation"?

Reporters during the call said Jim used the word "order" not "reservation".

Reservations were lead gen, at least that's what my sales & marketing coworkers would call it. Sure it looked like a Build & Order website from the customer's end but it was really just dealers capturing our contact info. When I asked my salesman to show me what he got from my reservation, and then what he had to do to convert that to an order, it was clear: "oh that's just lead gen". So the duplicates via reservations isn't what Jim's # was talking about.

I originally used the word order but after getting some heat over DM's that I used the wrong word, I changed it

With the Bronco we were told that Ford received somewhere in the neighborhood of 165K reservations, and on the first round of orders they received approx. 125K orders. Since then Ford hasn't issued any more numbers. With orders, and reservation being canceled because of the chitshow that has developed, no one knows what the final build numbers will be. I certainly hope the Maverick doesn't fall prey to the same carnage as the Bronco. There are folks that made a reservation in the first lines opened, and they haven't heard squat yet. And there are quite a few that have been told they may be looking at a '22 delivery after being promised they would get a '21. Myself I ordered in Oct. as I didn't want mine until '22, and now there's no way for me to know if that will even happen.
