From the specs I’ve seen, the Maverick is 2” taller than the Santa Cruz; however, upon seeing an FX4 in person, it seemed really short. On paper it should be the same height as my wife’s SUV, but I could easily see over the roof, which I cannot do with her SUV.

Today I saw a Santa Cruz, which in person was taller overall in height.
I could not see the roof when flat-footed.

So why does motortrend and google show the Maverick as taller than Santa Cruz when it clearly isn’t?

I am 5’7” and note the photos:

Santa Cruz is speced at 66.7" and Mav is 68.7". What isn't said is if these are measurements to top of cab or include antenna/roof rails.

Differences in that height also depend on additional roof rails and wheel sizes

So maybe the 68.7” of Maverick is the top of the little antennae on roof?
That might make sense then, because pretty sure that height isn’t the roof height.
Also note that the Santa Cruz has short shark fin instead.

Its hard to tell really, but it appears both spec sheets are grossly incorrect. It seems likely the height specified is the trucks under some condition that isn't 'real world?'

Spec sheet says 68.7" Vehicle Height - Maximum so that likely is to the tip of the antenna where that is the maximal point as normally equipped.

Santa Cruz has 8.6" ground clearance in all configurations, the Maverick we found out is actually 8.2" of ground clearance in most configs except with the optional FX4 tires which are taller and 8.6". So a little bit of height is there, and yeah I guess they are counting to antenna, which sticks up way higher than the shark fine. Makes sense from a parking clearance perspective, but does seem misleading.

Maverick's listed height is to the top of the shark-fin antenna, not the stick. Height is also dependent on the vehicle's weight via options and fuel level, and also in the variation in the suspension (which can account for almost a half inch inch higher or lower than intended design). So it is possible you found a Santa Cruz on the high end of the ride height bell curve, and a Maverick on the low end.

Reminds me of the Wilshire Grand building downtown LA, which is technically the "tallest" in the city but only because they count an extra 200 feet for the spire on top.

If that is true Ford is deliberately misleading Thousands of us. I ordered my Maverick based on the stated dimensions like all vehicles are supposed to do!! 😡

They do the same when giving measurements on "the tallest building". If it has a antenna at the top they include that into the height.
