Yesterday I installed Rostra cruise control. I actually had my 13 year old do 90% of it as he fits better. Let me start out by saying thanks to Rostra for making the kit as its the only option. The kit is very easy to install and take about 90 minutes. I pulled the pins out of the plugs so I could use heat shrink, I did not like the idea of just putting tape over bare wires. Rostra needs to make T harness for the ignition and OBD2 plug to make it a more complete kit. Everything works good and I now have working CC on my truck. The Rostra CC switch is not as good as the factory Ford switch and I will switch over to oem CC at a later time if it becomes an option.

Don’t hold your breath for a Ford OEM CC option. If Ford does eventually make CC optional on the XL, it would be steering wheel mounted controls from the factory and probably not something they will offer as an accessory kit.
I could be wrong, but pretty sure aftermarket will be the option for XL owners who didn’t pay the extra $2100 for XLT.

Wonder what Ford would say about this when warranty work needs to happen?

Nothing, unless the cruise control caused the issue being claimed under warranty.

Rostra need a stalk that had a slight "L" bend in it so it doesn't angle down so low on the left side.

I get that, but on the other side, if Ford can't fix the problem they can always say the added cruise is what did it

Its my understanding that is remedied by adjusting (twisting) the angled collar on the stem included. This is the intended reason Rostra included the angled ring so that there IS adjustability on the install. It can actually be angled up.

Nice CC install and all but what did you do to the bed cubby blank? Did you add your own inverter? How many watts? DETAILS MAN DETAILS!!!! 😂

Has anyone looked into replacing the steering wheel switch from XL with XLT switch then wiring the after market Rostra cruse to the XLT switch instead of the Rostra cruise stalk that comes in the kit? I see you can get a replacement steering wheel switch from Ford just not sure how to wire it to Rostra cruise.

I see you can get a replacement steering wheel switch from Ford just not sure how to wire it to Rostra cruise.
Depends on if Ford is encoding the switch signals whereas Rostra looks like they are using discrete wires for each control. For instance when I added cruise to my Focus the control inputs were all down a single wire, but generated different resistance values which the cruise module interpreted.
