Thank

Thank you so much for the review. These are exactly the questions I've had on my mind. I also plan on keeping it in Eco most of the time. My goal is to get the mpg as high as possible, (without pissing off anybody behind me! Lol) But it's good to know, when needed, this little truck can get up and go!
You have yourself a Merry Christmas also and Thank You again!
191 HP ain't nothing to sneeze about, and pretty good mpg no matter the mode your in,

Thank you for the great review! I think the eco mode is too much regenerative braking for me. I would only go Eco when I am on the freeway with cruise control on a long drive. So far I got used to the Normal mode, which is less annoying and I am getting 42mpg which is great.

I am only doing these two because they are the only two that matter. Normal is a split. I wanted to do the two that are opposite ends of the spectrum and the ones I will use the most.
Ok, for those of you who want the short version-10 mpg less in sport. Enjoy your night, Merry CHRISTMAS and Happy New Year.

For those of you who want more info, here you go.

I have tried both. Quick sum up is the difference is very similar to tuning a diesel truck, night and day.
Throttle response: I feel that after comparing these I need to edit my earlier review of how smooth the throttle is. In Eco it is simply that, smooth. It doesnt jerk or lag, it just comes on very linear. If you gun it you will not see 100% power. It will jump and gently climb. To get it to lurch forward requires a good bit of throttle. I have yet to find myself wanting more throttle than it could give. My father drove it today and hit it in that mode, he said "It's not fast, but it is not slow either". That is the perfect description of Eco mode. It has enough power to make it drive well. You will hit electric mode often and at every chance the computer can give.

Now Sport: Responsive as hell. I was easing down the road and hit the mode button to switch to Sport(one push after Eco). At that throttle position the truck LUNGED forward. I was honestly taken by surprise. I did not expect that much of a difference. I never hit pure electric mode in Sport. Sport wanted to run. Mileage dropped a ton with a noticeable difference in engine RPMS. It was around 30 mpgs which is still not bad, but thats at the EB ratings. As I was on a 50 mile drive I slipped it back into Eco mode only to be met with a slow car a few miles later. Perfect time to test it. I pushed the button once and slapped it into Sport mode. When I went to pass the truck raced forward hitting 80 mph from 45 very quickly while jumping to near 100% power. Even my wife noticed the difference. All I could say was "Damn that was strong." I played with it some never hitting electric but it was extremely responsive. More so than my tuned 350 and I know more than our EB Escape. I understood why it is as fast to 100 as the EB. When it goes, it GOES.

My verdict....I will run Eco 98% of the time. The fuel mileage is just to good. If I get into a questionable situation or need to pass, one quick click of the button is all it takes to get more throttle and a fast pass. All of you who were worried about the lack of power passing, DONT. This truck has PLENTY.......

So for those of you who read the whole thing, Merry CHRISTMAS, Happy New Year AND may all your babies be born Naked.
When switching between Eco-Normal-Sport a few things happen, 1> the throttle position sensor gets remapped, the Maverick isn't making more power, 2. the transmission response is remapped to be more or less quicker in response, 3. depending on what you have running, A/C or Heat, how and when the A/C compressor cycles differently.

My BMW 330i has Eco Sport, Normal, and Sport. I have used the Eco Sport once, a trip between Phoenix-San Diego, the car told me I got 34 miles better than if I left it in Normal or Sport. I always have it Sport mode.

I'm not sure how many people will leave their Mavericks in Eco, I feel this mode makes the Maverick feel too lethargic for most. Also how many will leave it in Sport? Since it won't get the impressive MPG...

Now if only they'll add the Sport mode back for the FX4 when they release the FordPerformance Factory Tune.

I got the FX4 package so I did not get the the eco mode. My question is can an eco mode be added even if I have to give up one that came with FX4?
From seeing some Bronco/ Bronco Sport unlocks it appears you can add it back in without removing anything. I imagine that will be a "benefit" of the factory tune. If not, I'd bet you will still be able to unlock it. I'm waiting to see what the factory tune offers first.

There were some other links but will add them later if I come across them.

So far I don't have anything bad to say about gas mileage. Had it a week have over 1100 miles Probably 100 city 700 highway and the rest plowed fields, two tracks and bad dirt roads and it is averaging (according to the readout) 31. I realize it might be 5-10% hi, but still that ain't bad. That was all in normal. I have the eco boost with awd, towing, fx4

Ok, there are some caveats to this. The Eco mode does NOT give as much available HP as Sport. Yes it remaps the throttle response but also remaps fuel and ice/electric modes. Sport lets you put more fuel to the Engine. That equals more power. As I said it was a lot to really get the Eco to give more than 50% power. The Sport lets you access 100% of the power. 10 mpgs on average is a big difference. That is 130 miles difference in a tank and that difference was on the highway. I imagine more of a loss in the city.

No the physical potential of power in the engine is not changed you can just access more of it. That is what a different tune does. My F350 Eco mode is way down on power from the Race mode. I promise you that even on a dyno you will get different numbers. It is not a simple in this truck as just a throttle tune. This truck the different modes are a big difference from each end.

I opted for the FX4/Lux without the Towing as it came with the tow hitch and the extra cooling (minus the transmission cooler) as I didn't want the changed gear ratios due to being surrounded by lots of highways. As for the transmission oil cooler, it looks like it could be a possible add on later from looking at the parts listings if needed. I don't tow anyway. Only thing I've had in the Silverado hitch was bike racks - and it has the HD Tow package with transmission oil cooler.

This would be great. I don't understand why more modes are not available from the factory.
But at least you can add them later.

Sometimes I have to tow a 4 wheeler, but mainly I wanted as much cooling as I can get, plowed fields and 105 temp are a bad combo. My Tundra would consistently overheat immediately. I was not sure I wanted the FX4 due to ride quality but so far so good. I'll put on 30,000 a year on very bad roads or two tracks. It's not rock climbing by any means but is rough as hell in places. I wanted a great ride, good fuel economy and AWD so far, so good.
