This is a very backwards way of looking at it and makes no sense. Dealerships stock colors that are popular and that they know are more likely to sell. They don't want cars sitting on their lots in colors that no one is looking for. Then they end up having to discount them. They aren't just randomly closing their eyes and ordering random colors and options and then just hoping for the best.
But that creates a feedback loop. When I visit a dealership and I only see black, white, and silver vehicles, I can only conclude either that is all they order or the other colors sell out as soon as they arrive. If the former, then they don't have any sales data on colored cars to make that determination. If the latter, their habit of primarily ordering monotone paint simply reinforces their perceived consumer demand for monotone paint.

Funny... just looked at my local dealership's inventory online. They just got a large shipment of vehicles a couple of weeks ago, with lots of Mavericks.

All of the 2026 EB trucks are gone... every single one... except for a 2025 XLT. They only have three '26 Mavericks left on the lot, all hybrids.

Two XLTs are priced in the mid $30K range: one Velocity Blue and one Orange Fury
One Lariat is priced just below $45K, painted Ruby Red.

Except for the 2025 XLT, not a white, grey, or black Maverick on the lot, and not a single XL in any flavor.

The Light Blue looks nearly identical to an OG Ford color called "Futura Blue" that was available for years on Galaxies, on the Fairmont, and even on mid-eighties Escorts. It's a traditional color for Ford, that looks good on the Maverick, especially with the 17" steelies. Members of our family owned all three of the aforementioned models over the years, all in Futura Blue.

OMG, I owned a Ford Fairmont back in the day. What a garbage car that was. It only started when it was in a good mood.. this picture is giving me nightmares and I'm not even asleep..

White is a popular color due to easy resale and fleet and business purchases. The more neutral colors are easier to sell than a niche color for only a few demographic.

For me, I like the light blue especially with installing vinyl stripping or design, but the resale won’t be good as there isn’t a lot of people that it would attract, therefore, it would take longer to resale causing the resale or trade in to be lower

I think if you look you will find when customers are surveyed, black, white and silver-grey are most desired colors.

Companies like white of course because it's easier for them to stick their graphics / logo on them. But lots of consumers request white.

I don't get it. But they do.

White is only overrepresented because it is a default fleet color and color most people will pick when color is last place on their priority list of things they want. It is a "safe" color to pick.

I had planned on trading in my 2023 Lariat 2.0L for a 2027 Lariat 2.0L so I could install the SV300T kit. But Ford and their bean counters managed to screw that plan up too.

Ford recommends the 4K Tow Package for the SV300T kit. The problem is, in 2027, the only Maverick that gives you both the 2.0L and the ability to option the 4K Tow Package is the XLT. The Lobo and Tremor can't be optioned with 4K towing.

This is exactly what is frustrating about where Ford has taken the Maverick. There used to be a lot more freedom to build the truck you actually wanted. Now it feels like Ford has decided you get Option A or Option B, and that's about it.

Hopefully Toyota can pick up the ball Ford dropped when their compact truck finally comes out. Maybe they'll understand that people actually want to be able to build a truck around what they need instead of being forced into whatever combination Ford's bean counters decided makes the most sense.

Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants, so long as it is black.
Any customer can have any Maverick that he wants, so long as it is A or B.

Love it! Thanks for sharing. Too bad this color is now only going to be offered with the too-modern looking aluminum wheels for 2027.

Considering the fact that Toyota has now gone Hybrid only on both the Camry and Rav-4 I wouldn't be surprised if their rumored Maverick competitor would also not have a straight gas option. Some rumors have also suggested that Toyota may even be developing it as pure electric only trucklet.
