I just confirmed with my dealer this is a legit recall that affects my VIN, and that the issue is exactly as had been described - potential drill hole in fuel tank from clearing drain holes during spray-in Bedliner process.
They advised that it’s just an inspection at this point and there is no parts kit available. I assume that means that in the event they performed the fuel tank inspection and found a hole, they don’t yet have replacement fuel tanks available.
I did not schedule the inspection at this time and will wait until I receive an official notice from Ford.
Looks like Carmax was correct on this. I find it somewhat surprising that they were ahead of Ford in announcing this recall. After I spoke to the dealer, I logged into my Ford account and checked my VIN for recalls and it’s still showing “No Recalls” , which I now know is not correct.
Same thing here! Sat with my dealer this morning for paperwork but they cannot deliver my maverick to me because they need to do an inspection and they are waiting for more details from ford. I should get it in the beginning of january if everything is ok. If there is a hole, we don't know what they will do! 🥺 It's a bummer, knowing my truck arrived last friday and can't get it...

Your tank either has holes or it doesn't. I had to wait one business day to get my Maverick evaluated and delivered to me. But, I had no holes.

Tell your dealer to get it done! However, if they find holes....😬

Vicky, I have a build date of 11/19 and was shipped on 11/23. When I checked on Carfax recall check with my VIN, it shows no recalls. I notice your build date of 11/20...I wondered why your Mav is on the recall list and my Mav is not?

Yeah I told my dealer to just do the inspection but she said they have to wait for more instruction from Ford! They didn't know what the recall was about so I told her it had to do with the bed liner...! 🙄 and then she said: Ohh! That explains why the other trucks we received this week don't have recall! (They were all XL with no spray in) So I don't expect her to do things quickly... 😄🤦‍♀️
But hey! At least my truck is built and safe at the dealership! Could be worse!

Do you have a spray in bed liner?

Your truck went into production on 10/25 and took several weeks to complete, which is longer than the norm which is about 1 week. It’s possible that they completed the bedliner spray in the early part of your build timeline and that’s what put you in the recall group. Other Mav’s that completed their build at the same time as yours around Nov 20 likely started their build in early to mid November when they already fixed that bedliner production error. Just a theory.

My dealer confirmed to me this morning that this was a valid recall and it affects my VIN. I had build date of 10/7 and took delivery on 11/6. Dealer said at this point it is inspection only and there is no parts kit available for it yet.
I decided not to schedule my vehicle for the inspection until I get an official recall notice from Ford.
I checked the Ford website for recalls on my VIN# and it’s still showing as “ No Recalls “. It’s surprising to me that Carfax was the first to send me notification of this recall, followed by my local Ford dealer confirming a few days later (today), and Ford website still showing no recall for my VIN.

The OP said the dealer told him it was a problem with the gas tank.

The "delivery hold" memo says there is a problem with an oversized extruded bolt hole.

I wonder if these are two separate things, or if the dealer just got it wrong.

(BTW, an oversized extruded bolt hole could happen mid-production in a lot of different ways. Somebody replacing a die on a stamping machine could have put in the wrong size, or somebody replacing a thread tap could have done the same. People make mistakes.)
Or even someone was filming a new "Chucky" movie........

I ordered mine 6/30, after about 4 different eta changes, was finally delivered 12/20. Everything was set up and was about to head to the dealership then I get the call about the stop sale. They were able to get my mav in the next morning right away to drop the fuel tank and inspect for holes. Then I get another call saying the bolts used to hold it up are single use, so they need to wait for new ones to arrive from ford with an eta of a week.

Has anyone else with the spray in bedliner had the fuel tank inspected?
