I'm dead serious.
OTOH you can also pay $1 Million for a luxury RV.

Hmmm, spoken like a true hybrid owner. Most 8F35's in Mavericks are toast by 100k.
I read all the replies to this post, but the one question I have is, if the transmission oil was changed according to the Ford requirements, Who changed it, and what oil did they put in? Todays "fix it" shops, hire whoever they can, for help. That's why I have the dealership do all my maintenance until I hit around 50K miles, costs more, but safier.

Not being able to clean or change the internal filter seems a bit odd. But I'm no expert. This is a good read as well I don't agree with everything he says.

Yes it is. Unfortunately a lot of OEMs have gone this way on FWD/AWD cars and trucks. Having to remove the transmission to split the case to change the filter. Not being able to clean or change the internal filter seems a bit odd. But I'm no expert.

I just realized after a little research my girl's 2013 Escape has a 6F35 with an internal filter. She has 281,889 currently with no transmission fluid changeYes it is. Unfortunately a lot of OEMs have gone this way on FWD/AWD cars and trucks.

2.0 & 2.5 issue's are almost unheard of, but you have seen a significant more 8F35 failures ? But isn't that part of a 2.0 ? Sorry but that's a confusing statement.Anecdotal, but what I've seen here over the past 4.5 years is significantly more 8F35 failures than the hybrid transmission. 2.0 and 2.5 issues are almost unheard of.

Thanks for sharing. I don't know enough about transmissions to either agree or disagree with the article, but the guy does sound knowledgeable. Now I'm a little nervous about these 8F35's. He say's not to do a flush, but that's all the Ford stealers where I live want to do. I guess I will try to find a trans shop that will do a drain & fill. I understand that it is not that hard to do, but I'm getting too old to crawl under vehicles any more. This is a good read as well I don't agree with everything he says.

I would not worry about it as long as you change the fluid every 30k to help the service life. Don't let them flush it if you can. Yes, find an independent shop to drain and fill your 8F35 for sure. It should be less expensive as well. The problem with machines flushing these internal non-serviceable filters is the small particles of clutch friction material and gear wear get trapped in the filter, and flushing stirs it up into the entire transmission rather than just letting those particles float in the fluid to gravity drain out of the transmission. Thanks for sharing.
