Funny thing is. Last night when I posted that I remember saying superconductor instead of super capacitor🤷‍♂️
You remembered correctly. They are supercapacitor jump starters, not superconductor as you posted last night.

Who can explain why the battery charger works attached to vehicle but the jump pack won't?
If you're using a lithium jump pack, my best guess is that the BMS software wasn't designed with that use case in mind, so it errored out when it detected something outside of its programmed range. This is when a lithium jump pack with a force-start/boost or other mode that disables all the safety features is helpful.

You could try an old-school gel cell jump starter like the Jump N Carry and see what happens or doesn't happen. If you already tried that and got the same result...no idea then.

Yes, you nailed it.
I forgot the Golf Cart LiFePo batteries go "open circuit" if they get too low. And like too low is 11 volts Kinda sucks they shut off vs. fade away.

OTOH I still can't explain why it wasn't "open circuit" after I detached one lead from the vehicle. Just weird to me.

Also my cheap end jump pack does have a override feature that I didn't know about. I will try again if opportunity presents.

Sometimes "smart" features don't help you!

Some are programmed to check for 6, 8, 12 volt batteries. So if you have a 12v below 7 volts you will need to select 6 volts on charger (if it doesn't have force mode) and charge long enough to get enough to use 12v setting. The battery will still need 1.5-2v to recognize a 6v battery to charge. OR hook an additional 12v battery (+to+/-to-) to the dead battery and put charger on that battery charging both batteries at same time. (Old timers force mode 🤫😇).

Which one do you have? I wish more companies would list force-start/boost as a feature instead of having to read the owner's manual. I currently have the YaberAuto "8000A", which has a force-start mode, a semi-decent air inflator, and a screen big enough to easily read through the gap in the hood while sitting in the driver's seat. It's just a little on the bulky side. Frequently goes on sale for $80-90.
