I have a 2025 hybrid that has about 22k miles on it. When new I could break or come close to breaking ,500 miles on a tank. It has slowly dropped since then, Ive had it about a year and a half. I was averaging about 37 miles per gallon city driving which still seems low compared to what others have gotten??. I recently took it in for a recall where they replaced the airbag indicator light bracket or something to that effect and when I got back it was reading about 22 miles per gallon. On average income get a little over a 100 miles per quarter tank and that is watching the lines on the base gauge. Lately since the recall I am getting in the 70s per quarter tank. Last full tank I don't even think I broke 400 miles according to the tripometer. I live in the same house, same job, same basic routine. Not sure what happened but my mileage has dropped substantially from when I bought it and even more dramatically since the recall. The recall was done about three weeks ago now. It has increased a little but still not up to where it was. Any thoughts from anyone?

Any idling I’m doing now has the AC going so that has hurt my MPG.

So 3 weeks ago was recall - you've had 1 fillup?

Below normal with miles in comparison.

How many weeks in that tank you replaced?
How many before the 3 wk recall? (that recall was attaching a light better.)

So if only 1 tank - your quarter tank reading has been estimating with your tank markings and distance.

So did you have your hybrid during the spring to summer transition last year to compare too?
Remember temps if you did, ours has been vastly different, so impossible to compare exact dates.

I have a 2024 hybrid with 26000 miles on it. I’m getting 49.5 mpg, around town, which is the best since I bought it. Check the air pressure in your tires, I run 38 psi. Also, do you use EV Coach? I have found that using EV Coach helps a lot.

I am averaging 45.7 (MPG gage) from day 1 on my hybrid for 2 years June 10-2024 to June 11-2026. I live in zone 6 USDA Cincinnati, Ohio. My MPG read about 5% higher than calculated. I run 42 PSI front tires 35 PSI rear tires. Front end is heavier.

Sounds like they reset the system when they did the recall and it hasn’t come back to average yet. The EV coach really helps train you to maximize the fuel economy. I also use the low gear when I leave my house as I’m in a hill and that gets the hv battery charged a little bit more starting out (regen braking). I also always use eco even though I’m not sure it does that much from what I’ve read. I have the same issue when I drive my 5hr trip to visit family every other month. It takes a week or two for the miles to empty to get back to normal. Just the way it is with the computer learning your driving habits.

Yeah I am in Florida my AC stays on high
This is probably the reason.
In combination with your computer that calculates the MPG getting reset during the recall work.

Your MPG will come back. Give it time. And some cooler weather will help.

I lose as much as 9 MPG in city traffic when my A/c is on compared to when it is off.

I recently had a large drop in mileage, and it seems to be based on altitude and more probably the change in gas from the winter to summer blend, not sure if that happens where you are located. (I think the ethanol % changes a little) and that higher level of ethanol really drops your mileage, although you don't pollute as much. You may want to do a manual MPG calc for a while to see if the car computer is accurate.

Here in Las Vegas, I have to constantly have AC running, and my MPG is usually 32-36 on my '25 AWD Hybrid. To be fair, I've only had it since March of this year, so I don't know if come cooler months that MPG will go back up. When I first had the '25 in March, I usually got 37MPG driving the same way I had my '24 FWD Hybrid--but with the '24 I usually got around 42.

I reckon the AWD system really took a lot out of the MPG efficiency from a FWD-only version.

If AC is set to max AC temp setting should be "LO" and ice will run constantly to provide max electric for compressor. Try setting AC to a numerical number and fan speed to whatever max speed you want. Then as cabin temp approaches the set temp the compressor can slow down and fan speed wont remain at max cooling speed. Ice will shut off or at least run at lower rpm.
