Refer to post# 35 by the OP in this thread…

There has been a redesign in the Atkinson listed tank - now with a “D” suffix. There is a “stop sale” on the previous Atkinson listed tank - with the part# suffix “C”.

The tank part# listed for the 2.0liter is suffixed “A”.

Pictures online all look identical from the ouside. Ford may have different part#s for identical tanks? Do ebay sellers have “stop sale” inventory?

Edit - see post #35 not 92

That's why I wanted to post those pictures - shows at some point in time the EB & Hybrid were the same mold and tank, despite the different numbers molded on them.

Hybrid got "C" at some point (2025?), must have had a problem, and got "D".

But the same way the initial tank was labeled with both model numbers - I'm wondering if the "C" was labeled for the EB also, and has that been done with the "D" now?

They were willing to share the same tank between models at the start.
Are they still?
Is the current EB tank really still the A / B one, or did it progress onward too?

Sounds like they should have stuck with the EB tank if it remains.

Probably all kinds of EB owners all over the bottom of their truck tuning/improving it - gotta be some recent pics. Though it is on the other side of bed, probably under some hairy cardboard.

The Ford description on their parts website lists:

Gas Tank Part Numbers:
SZ6Z-9002-A … 2.0L Maverick
SZ6Z-9002-B … 2.0L Corsair
SZ6Z-9002-C … 2.5L Maverick
SZ6Z-9002-D … 2.5L Maverick

I know the EVAP components are different between EB & Hybrid. The high pressure fuel pumps under the hood are different…EB sucks up gas faster:) And of course the Hybrid tank is slightly pressurized. I can only speculate that the fitting/hoses/etc may differ some between the two.

And what causes the Hybrid to “click” off the gas pump a couple gallons sooner than the EB - there is a mechanical & electrical difference…

The outer “shell” of the tanks sure look the same & both are located in pretty much the same spot I think - drivers side in front of rear axle.

There was a recall for a bad tank “weld” that affected only 200 or so trucks in early 2024…did not state EB or Hybrid or both.

If I were to guess, after thinking about the tanks since yesterday, I’d bet they’re the same but are controlled/connected differently:)
