Could be the speaker(s) you were listening through did not reproduce the needed frequencies? To hear it without equalizing out the low frequencies I had to turn the volume up a bit on my computer. Then again my PC audio setup includes a pair of old Realistic Minimus 7 speakers with a custom crossover, desktop amplifier, powered subwoofer, and equalization software - your audio experience may vary a bit.I could not hear anything that sounded at all like a "beep".
The recording itself does not seem to have much audio above 16kHz, if I equalize the output to my PC sound setup to remove everything below 1kHz and above 16kHz (this removes most of the other vehicle powertrain and road noise sound) the "chirp" is very clearly audible.
