Great forum so first of all, thanks. I plan to get a Maverick before July 4 for the “employee pricing”. It will probably be a fairly basic hybrid, AWD, maybe a trailer hitch and not much else. Seems this will come in around $32,000, which sounds like a pretty good deal.

Unless there is something else I really need to get? Please tell me now, before I order it. Thanks.

No one can really tell YOU what you need. You do mention a trailer hitch. I presume you do not need it much but if you do you may consider the need to move up to 4k tow option. I do think this an option which will maintain its value when the vehicle is sold/traded. Ony you know if you need it.......................

You need a #Tremor for sure
O.P. said "hybrid" and $32,000 so no Tremor 😝 - we're in XL territory.

@RR - All the way already mentioned the added value of the 4K Tow Package, if that can be fit into the budget it does add value later but it bumps the price up as it requires additional options (Co-Pilot 360) on the XL.

Regardless of towing capacity a hybrid XL with AWD is still a great value, my only quibble with the XL is that it has manually adjustable side mirrors.

I hope @Graycenphil can join the club soon!

You mentioned "order"? You shouldn't have to. Lots of inventory out there to where you should find something close to what you want. You did what I did six months ago ..... signed up & picked everybody's brain to learn as much about the maverick as possible before actually getting one. Good move

Ford upgraded the HF45 eCVT to a more rugged HF55 eCVT to handle the 4K Tow demands. I’m guessing the 2K also gets the improved eCVT - but maybe not with the transmission cooling?

All the critical powertrain bits in the “basic” AWD Hybrid are identical to those in the pricier models. You can’t go wrong with the XL in that regard:)

As far as anything else you need - budget some extra dough for aftermarket stuff like a tonneau cover ($500) & paint ($50) for the neat steelies?
A couple forum sponsor companies also offer lots of odds & ends to individualize your new baby ($100-$500 total with them);)

IIRC all of the hybrid HF45/HF55s have liquid cooling regardless of the towing package (that is why there are two coolant reservoirs). EcoBoost models get an additional oil cooler with their 4K package to keep from frying the clutches but the hybrid 4K package does not add a transmission oil cooler.

If you get the standard tow receiver package you only get a 4-pin trailer connector.

The 4K package adds a larger radiator + upgraded radiator cooling fan, full size spare, trailer brake controller, hitch receiver, 7-pin trailer connector in addition to the 4-pin, and a different final drive ratio (which steals a couple of MPGs).

If I'm incorrect someone please post what all the 4K package includes for 2025/2026 models!

4K Tow Package:

EB gets a bigger fan & radiator for engine cooling (Coolant) but no additional cooling for the transmission.

Hybrid gets a transmission cooler (ATF Fluid) but no additional cooling for the Atkinson.

They both get the identical trailer connections though.

The Lobo gets the larger fan & radiator for addition engine cooling (Coolant) but not the upgraded trailer connections. Only rated to tow 2K due to sport suspension and awesome good looks.

Thanks for all the responses, lot of great knowledge here. Not planning to tow anything heavy, just a small utility trailer, and only very occasionally.
I do want the optional regular spare tire though. It mounts underneath, like on many other pickups? Tires are pretty good these days, but I don’t like the fix-a-flat and the air pump.

I still have the original spare still unused under my 1990 Ranger.

A spare dated 1990 ?
That’s not a Maypop that’s a Will pop,
In the first few miles.

By the time you get it up to temperature those rusted out steel belts will disintegrate and that dry rubber will fall apart.

Or it will hold together til you get up to interstate speeds then put you in a ditch,
Ya think ?
