Hello, I'm wondering if anyone else is having the experience I currently am having. My vehicle - 2022 Hybrid - was have a really bad shudder going uphill using the accelerator and when I brought it to the dealer it turns out both right and left axles are bad. They further informed me after 2 days that the vehicle is unsafe like that as they're really bad and they'd give me a loaner.

The loaner was a 2026 Maverick BUT I WASN"T ALLOWED TO USE THE BED (WHY HAVE A TRUCK) AND WASN'T ALLOWED TO GO MORE THAN 50 MILE RADIUS FROM THE DEALER. I live 22 miles from the dealer! I asked to have it changed as I needed a bed or worst case trunk, so now I'm in a 26 Bronco full size - not ideal for me a 5'5" 62 year old and my 80 year old husband.

Further I'm told my vehicle won't be ready until July - and no date can be given - because parts aren't available.

I've been on the phone with everyone - Ford Corporate. I requested they just buy the vehicle as I really don't want it back after this and this long.....they refused. It's been in the shop since April 27th - I can't drive it as it's unsafe.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this.....at this point I'd like to simply get rid of it. It only has 40,300 miles.

I thought a dealer/manufacturer couldn't legally keep your vehicle waiting for parts more than 30 days.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just curious, did the loaner have a bedliner?

Corporate wont buy back a 4 year old vehicle, no matter how much you ask.

CV axles are readily available from RockAuto. They're blowing smoke up your arse. There's 3 possible avenues you can take here.

1) take your truck somewhere else. This dealer sounds absolutely awful, and they're going to treat you poorly. If you are not covered by an extended warranty, take your truck to any number of indie mechanics. Screw the dealer.

2) keep pressuring them. Call them every week asking for the status of your vehicle, play into how much you need your maverick back and how touch it is for your husband to use the bronco. Keep calling Ford Corporate as well, ask them what the status is on part shipments and how far behind they are on CV axles. Be an incredibly annoying squeaky wheel.

3) if the rental is covered by either the dealer or your warranty....drive the piss out of it and enjoy. If they get it back with 20k miles on it, sucks to be them, shouldn't have taken 3 months to fix CV axles.

Considering the mileage and age of the vehicle, there must have been a recall, or did you have an extended warranty? The factory warranty expired by both time and mileage.

As far as the parts wait time period, that will vary by location.
It's not the dealers fault they can't get parts that aren't available.
IIRC, dealers are often contractually obligated to use Ford parts, so aftermarket may not be an option for them.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can reasonably do, other than drive the loaner until your Mav is repaired or go the route just posted and get the repair done elsewhere, but you may have to wrangle getting the repair covered by Ford, That might be something to discuss with corporate.

You might also try further negotiations to get something closer to what you had for a loaner.
Good luuck.

OP is covered under 5yr/60k drivetrain warranty.

If the loaner vehicle is free just keep driving it while your Maverick takes a break. CV axles are a known issue and you’ll get getting the upgraded part number which should resolve the issue for you moving forward.

No...No liner and a sign hanging in the truck that said DO NOT REMOVE SIGN - saying $500 minimum charge if bed is used.
Makes sense then on why they didn't want it used. No bedliner = scratches.

The axles are covered under a voluntary field service action. And the replacement axles are more robust. . Ford extended the warranty on the axles to 150,000 miles. This partially explains the unavailability. While Ford corporate can't make an axle appear out of thin air, they can often get a suitable loaner vehicle obtained.

Thank you! Yes, I am pressuring them as I'm calling all the time. Believe me, I did think of driving that loaner 8 hours a day! The truck is covered by the powertrain warranty. Also, Ford know there's a problem with these parts as they've extended the warranty on them to 10 years 150,000 miles!

There's an extended warranty on the axles for 22-24 Mavericks as this is a very common issue. As a mechanic at a Ford dealership, we were able to get a pair next day from Ford just a couple of weeks ago. This dealer is definitely screwing you over.

O/P has a 4 year old Maverick with 40K miles on and is shocked that Ford won't buy it back - but they are fixing it at no charge and provided a no-charge loaner that you did not want due to a restriction on use, then they give you a different loaner that you don't like because you cannot access it easily....if you are looking to get rid of it, did you go out to the front of the house and see what kind of deal they can make for you to get you out of your old Mav and into a new one? Or, did you just sign up here on the 23rd of this month to complain about it?
