I am glad they will have competition. For me if looking in the future it will be all about who had the least expensive small truck.. and even then im probably buying used. Maverick went from a great low cost/budget option to 7-10K more in 2 years for the exact same thing(as far as quality/materials/build goes).

Now im wondering if someone like Dodge or Toyota undercut Ford price wise for yet another true budget truck... and the same LAME excuse I keep hearing about when I say it USED to be a budget truck.. and someone comes and says well compared to.. blah blah and blah it is.. no it really isnt because you cant compare it to something thats not

1. a budget truck
2. Not a SMALL truck

you cant compare it to what mid or full size trucks cost because its not a mid or full size truck// right now it basically has little to no TRUE comparison the Santa Cruz is it... Thats why im so happy that Dodge/RAM and most likely Toyota will be coming out with a TRUE small truck again.. id love to see which XLT type(what ever the mid option Toyota or RAM is called) model is cheapest.

And Id really like to see one of them come out with a base BUDGET option thats actually 25Kish like the Maverick used to be not 30+Kish

Unfortunately I would never buy a dodge/jeep etc for a personal vehicle, maybe something older that I could wrench on.

I have had a couple dodge ram's as work vehicles, so the best scenario where I don't have to pay for gas or maintenance.

The first was an '06 ram 2500 with the 5.7 hemi, I put about 55k miles on it in a little under 3 years, probably 2/5ths of those were HARD mountain road miles where I absolutely sent it through conditions I wouldn't want to drive the maverick through carefully. That truck basically convinced me why I see so many ram's on the road. Very early on the truck blew a cat, I went to a shop got a new one welded on for $700, and the other time was a couple years after where it overheated and puked coolant out of the expansion tank on the interstate. Luckily I just passed a gas station so I limped it around and got a couple gallons of water, and drove back like while the truck acted like it never happened, i bought a new radiator cap but Im not sure if that did anything but drove it for probably another 5k miles and nothing happened again.

My current one is a '25 2500 with the cummins HO. It's got enough turbo lag from a stop you could read a book between stepping on the gas and the turbo coming on, but when it kicks in this thing chooches like a freight train (1,000+tq). The interior is a cadillac compared to my previous one. It's currently at 10K miles and I've had it for probably 8 months, same driving conditions except I don't let the big dog eat as much unless its on the interstate. I think last week I spent about $450 in diesel. It has had a couple flukes with the DEF heater -- popped a code in the winter, called and made an appointment at the dealer, code went off a couple days later. Almost 2 months later when it came time for the appt I called ahead and told them the code has been off for at least a month and they said theres nothing they can really do so I didnt bother bringing it in. During this the def gauge was kinda wishy washy and all over the place, but I switched brands and it's been fine since. It's had a couple 'pending' warnings on my ultragauge but they've never turned into a real cel again so I'm not worried right now. I fully anticipate I will have DEF heater problems again in the winter since we had a very mild one last year.

Would I buy dodge/stellantis? hell no, not as a primary vehicle and not something newer. Do I like my current ram? You'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

Only thing that is annoying now is having both gas and a diesel vehicle I'm hyper paranoid at the pump each time.

Don't get your hopes up. Dodge/Ram maybe. Toyota, not a chance.

You should check the facts about PR, is not even close to that, the point is the media shows and play to you whatever the big $$ wants you to see, the reality is almost always the completely opposite.
back in the day PR aliens threatened to tear up major cities in the US if they didn't get their benefits apparently they wanted their cake and be able to eat it too haven't checked lately, maybe they wanted to join? or risk a forcible annexation like Hawaii?( was all this democratic? I am not a big history buff our high school world history focused mainly on Europe and I do not watch the big network propaganda shows or the spaced out left and right wing wackos.

the fleets would get them first and the greedy stealership would keep the price up(remember(Trump was for the KEI trucks)

Contemplate these on the,
‘Tree of Woe’

I bet post #66 and #67 make a lot of guys
With tiny,,,
Pick up trucks like the F-350 and down to the Maverick feel,
Inadequate.
Hahahaha !
FWIW this Mack shows the proper reason to add fender flairs.
?? Why would anyone feel inadequate..
Anyone, owning one of these (Mack/International) has either too much $$$ to burn on Toys OR have some physical inadequacies.. They are psychologically trying to overcome...😂
AND they are on-par with ME, because they have to Park in the same areas, at Menards that I DO..(out at the outer rim).
Be it for different reasons..

Toyota, Yet they actually have the ability as in currently made to do it cheapest of all IF they wanted to.

But like I said I will almost always now be buying used not new since there isnt a new budget truck now that actually a budget truck... Only bloated price for the same thing that was 7-10K less 2 years ago. So let someone else take that initial gouge and I will get them 2-3 years old with 20-40K miles on them with a extended warranty and be happy/

If it's Stellantis it'll be a POS. They still haven't--and probably can't--recover from the reign of Carlos Tavares.

No competition for the Maverick.....maybe the Santa Crap will finally get something to compare to....
They stopped making the Santa Cruz, but Kia is coming out with a small truck soon. I like competition, it makes better products.

As of right now sales of the Maverick are down about 17% from last year at this time. They do have a broad age group purchasing these.

The Kia truck is going to be a BOF mid-sizer, though, not a compact.

There are a few topics guaranteed to make a thread explode on MTC. One is to dare say that anything electric could possibly be a good purchase.

But the most reliable is to suggest that any other automaker would dare to challenge the Maverick's preordained ascension to Automotive Heaven by releasing a competing vehicle.
