Decided to run my scanner for the first time on my '26 just to see if there were any pending codes or anything (there wasn't) and as I yanked the OBD2 dongle for the scanner out and I thought I had yanked to hard and pulled the OBD2 connector off its clip or something. Looked closer and it turned out to be one of those annoying GPS trackers that some dealers install, cut two zip ties and it is out of there. I think this dealer tries to sell you their "connect" service or some crap to which I said NFW so I guess they didn't want to take the 2 mins it would take to disconnect it.

I bet your battery will stay charged a lot longer now
We had a similar GPS tracker at the dealer & it would draw about 50ma on top of the cars system
Batteries were dead in a week on lot vehicles

Been there, done that. Good on you for finding it and cutting the, erm, cord...

I wish the one installed in my truck was as "nicely" done. They tapped into the OBD harness behind the connector, leaving me bare vehicle wires to patch after I removed the GPS unit.

I haven't had any battery issues with my '25 (RIP) or the '26 but I can sure see how this might cause some. It does have it's own internal battery so it can still operate when the truck battery is dead, sheesh! It is still on while sitting on my kitchen table.

Let as many people as possible know about it.

Where does one look for these at?

They are usually plugged into or tapping into the wires for the OBD port on the drivers side under the dash (near the hood release).

That's the first thing I looked for with new vehicle purchases. Many times these stealerships refused to remove it even I refused and didn't pay for it!
