BEWARE OF DEALER MARK UP

I know, I know, I know....... I should have got something signed when I ordered my Mav back in July. I was told in my meeting during ordering that
I was locking in price and would avoid the almost guaranteed rise in value as demand goes up. Waited close to 6 months eagerly checking status of my order dang near everyday. Truck get delivered this morning 12-15-21. Dealership calls this morning to tell me there would be a $4,500 dealer mark up. Being that I am already out of that state due to a military PCS I would already have to buy a $500 plane ticket as well as almost 12 hour drive back to my new home I have decided to back out. So now a beautiful Ford Mav sitting in Altus, Oklahoma at a very crappy dealership of Wilmes Ford. At a awesome $4,500 mark up, which they may change to almost $8,000 as they are telling me they gave me a half off discount on the mark up!!!!!!! How kind of them for thinking of me in doing that!!!! Nope go screw yourself Wilmes Ford of Altus, Oklahoma.

Yes I agree... I would presume that Ford has some level of Customer / Dealer liaison for disputes.

I have contacted them but am being told dealers are independent and can set prices. I went off the dealer owners words when I should not have. A complaint has been filed along with anywhere else that will here my complaint.

I am very concerned in this regard, as I too have an email indicating that they will honor the negotiated pricing... but NOTING signed. This a dealership that is advertising a Cyb Orange AWD XLT at MSRP of $29k something... and when I inquired as to putting a deposit on it - the response was an uptick taking the price out the door $41k... fees and all... he apologized, so nice of him!!

It's not just Ford, it's ALL OF THEM...with few exceptions. Considered a Corolla Cross as well and the dealers just want you to bend over and grab your ankles.

The thing is, they may want you to walk so they can inflate the price for the next customer.

Honestly complaining to Ford is probably not going to do much but I am sure giving an interview to a few local news stations on how they screwed over a veteran with an active duty spouse and the negative publicity locally would actually get them to the table to treat you right. Its entirely possible that they just want the money in the hand, but if it turns some customers off of them in the future it would be worth it.

Not saying it will change anything, but it might be nice if that dealership received several phone calls, emails and facebook posts explaining that its business practices are shameful and they are getting some negative attention across the internet.
