FB is about emotions lol. I think the forum people try to base themselves in actual numbers and use cases
I love ruffling their feathers on FB lol

They don't like facts being shared either! 🤣

I think it's funny the amount of people say Hybrid. I love my Hybrid, but someone told me the other day on my FB post nobody wants a Hybrid and everyone wants an EB 🤣
I got to know my dealer owner quite well....and he sort of confidentially showed me his book of orders that were not accepted.

A book of customer names who had signed orders that could not be filled....the reason: "Hybrid orders that FORD (Mexico) could not deliver. In 2022 Year he had more than 500 Hybrid orders that could not be delivered due to lack of Hybrid production....Ford had predicted EcoBoost would be in more demand but acknowledged they were wrong...and they were short on Hybrid components...don't know the number but 2023 also had a shortage of Hybrid. My dealer insisted that the Hybrid would have far exceeded EcoBoost in 2022, 2023, 2024 if Hybrids met sales needs.

Why did you originally swap from the Ecoboost to hybrid? MPG? Update the year? Also if you don't mind me asking why did you keep swapping?
My first was the 22 ecoboost, bought it because got where my wife was having trouble getting into my F150 supercrew 4x4. She loved it so when I found a low mileage used hybrid I bought it and gave it to her and I took over the ecoboost. Then one day we took my ecoboost for service and there was the 24 HPR setting out front she loved the color so I traded the ecoboost and I ended up with her 23 hybrid. Wasn’t long I was missing my AWD so traded for the 25 AWD hybrid. Thought I’d already posted this, getting old I guess can’t even remember to tap the post button. Next thing you know I’ll be forgetting to zip up. Oh! Wait I already do that.

Honestly curious after a few years of ownership now…

If you were buying a Maverick again tomorrow, would you still go Hybrid or would you switch to EcoBoost?

The more I look at it, the more it feels like both drivetrains have their own tradeoffs and neither is the “perfect” answer anymore.

Hybrid:
• Better MPG obviously
• eCVT seems simpler long-term to some people
• A lot of owners reporting 40+ MPG consistently
• AWD + 4K tow now available
• But also had its fair share of recalls/electrical complaints/battery weirdness over the years

EcoBoost:
• Definitely feels quicker and stronger especially at highway speeds
• 250 hp / 277 tq vs 191 combined hp on the Hybrid
• Better for towing and people who actually load the truck often
• Easier to mod/tune
• But turbo + 8 speed long-term reliability debates come up constantly too

What surprised me most is the actual acceleration difference isn’t even THAT massive anymore depending on setup. Some testing had the newer AWD Hybrid around high 6s to 60 while the EcoBoost/Lobo was mid 5s to low 6s.

Then there’s the reliability arguments:
• Hybrid owners say the naturally aspirated 2.5 + eCVT is the safer long-term setup
• EcoBoost owners say the Hybrid has had more recalls/software/electrical issues
• Some people say the 8 speed is the bigger concern
• Others say modern hybrids become nightmares outside warranty

And honestly I still see people arguing both sides nonstop.

So after ACTUALLY owning one:
Would you buy the same drivetrain again or switch?

And why?

I'd stay with EB. I only drive the truck about 2.5K miles per year, so the difference in fuel cost would be negligible, and it's a simpler machine, so I expect fewer issues. However, we've driven nothing but Toyota Avalon Hybrids since they became available in 2013, and when it's time to replace our 2021, it will have to be a different model since Avalon was discontinued after 2022.

I’ve been extremely pleased with my Ecoboost I would no doubt buy it again if I ever get the desire to buy again

From 2022-2024, this was a legitimately difficult choice. From 2025 on... there's the Hybrid AWD and then there are the other options, neither of which I find make a compelling case for themselves for either my needs or wants.

I have always been a car nut, into performance vehicles thru out my life. All kinds and brands of cars and truck over the years. Some of my favorites - 66 Shelby GT350H, 66 Nova with LS1, 01 Corvette FRC w/Mallet 396 conversion, 10 Corvette ZR1...then when Teslas came out, I watched with interest and after driving one, wanted an EV. The Rivian R1T was announced, an EV w/0-60 in 3 seconds, quicker than anything I had ever owned. Reserved one, waited 3 years to get it & got a Tesla 3 Performance while waiting. Wild rides. Ended up passing on the Rivian to my son and got a BMW i5M60 to replace the Tesla and our Maverick Lariat Hybrid for my wife. Great little trucks. Saying all that I am very interested in the small Ford EV truck & also possibility of Rivian coming out with a smaller EV truck. Looking for speed again - I am almost 75 & still enjoy the rush & the ease of passing when needed. So in my mind, I currently own 2 performance vehicles, tho for different reasons - the rush in the EV & the mpg performance of the Maverick. Everyone that needs 2 vehicles should have one EV & one other!

My Wife has gone from HEV to BEV to PHEV and now back to BEV again. I’m staying with ICE and the Ecoboost Maverick!!

Now that I'm retired and don't drive as much, I'd stick with the eco. While it's a pain seeking out top tier gas stations on long trips, the new DI/PI eco relieves that concern to some degree. I'd still try to use Top Tier but wouldn't feel as bad when I had to use less quality. So, it comes down to the fact that the truck can sit several days and possibly several months in the future. Hybrids are more like top end sports cars and should really be driven often, if not daily.

Wonderful car history and I'm a little envious but I'll stick with my 62 HP, big block Bugeye (1275). At 70 I'm fully immersed in the "more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow". Heck, when I'm on my GS 1200, I'm in rain mode (not that I haven't played lift the front tire in Enduro Pro mode). With that said, I'm glad there are guys like you that keep the adrenaline flowing. It'd be a boring world without that.

Yellow Labs are the greatest! We lost Butch a few years ago and I still miss him.
This is our Second yellow lab. The first was a rescue. He was an older dog, was great with the grandkids when they were babies. We got the second set of labs (a black and a yellow) when the grandkids were first born and we still had our old boy. Sure do miss the old boy. :crying:

Could I ask why? Is it just a unwilling to try a new thing/comfort of using what you have had before? Cause I have heard this a lot more then I thought I would be lots of people feel this way.

Nope....actually when I didnt work at home I had a horrible commute and bought a little Chevy Volt - they even had charging stations at work so I could charge at home and at work.....after that I went to a Ford Fusion plug in - I even added some sticky tires and lowered the Fusion with coil overs ......so it was more about the carpool lane stickers here in CA then the MPGs- in fact after the Fusion I went to a Mustang GT lol

For me its just driving dynamics......I know its not going to win any drag races but I just like the way it drives better/ I like the turbo noises...Now I have my Maverick Lobo for running errands and my GT350R for fun weekends- so I have always enjoyed more performance oriented vehicles....

Honestly if not for the Lobo version I might have bought a Civic Type R - in fact I almost did....but wanted to have one automatic in case I ever hurt myself or needed to drive somewhere in traffic......plus my wife can drive it if she ever really needed to .....so kept her happy

And yes I have Eibach springs on order for the Lobo and will be looking at exhaust....its way too quiet for me lol will be putting on a stickier tire eventually as well

I totally get the people that are into maximizing MPGs and that sort of thing ......but its just not for me.....

I come from a similar vehicle background as you- have driven a few Tesla - the acceleration is insane (I drove a Plaid) but my problem is I like noise I know ICE will never be as fast or efficient but I cant see ever replacing my gas powered cars with an EV..... at 51 I find myself more interested in the character of a vehicle then outright speed ......
