2023 Lariat hybrid. Last Ford I will ever buy. Far too many little things. Rattles, Nav screen shows me in a field instead of on the hiway sometimes, voice controlled navigation is an absolute disaster. Have had to use the jump box on it twice. A couple of dozen other things.
I kept my 2017 RAV4, thankfully. When I 86 the Maverick, it will be replaced with another Toyota.

My 2024 Hybrid has been flawless.
I once recommended to a friend that he would be safe buying a Honda Civic. The car lasted 3 months and I did not provide another recommendation (and wasn’t asked). I also bought a perfect Honda Accord “after” that mess. Ya never know!
I know multiple people who had major issues with Honda's within a week. My dad's first and last Honda lasted 2 days before the engine blew lol.

No manufacturer always produces prime examples of their vehicle every time.
There is a reason that the lemon laws were created, and these just slightly predated the Ford Maverick truck.

I think there are a couple of truths here. Expecting to get good resale from a production vehicle is a fools errand. The prices from 2022 & 2023 for used vehicles were way outside the norm and not likely to be repeated. Any dealer can tell you that. In 2022 I was offered what I paid new for my 2016 F350 as a used truck unfortunately I needed an F350 to run my business and the dealer had no truck available to purchase to replace it. Fast forward 4 years to 2026 that truck had diesel emission issues almost from the beginning and as long as it was under extended warranty not my problem. This F350 was definitely one of Ford's problem children. After spending thousands of my cash to fix once the warranty ran out I decided to be done. Got $29K in trade for a $55K new truck from 2016 last month. Cost my company a little over $300/month in depreciation to run for 10 years doesn't seem unreasonable. All that to say depreciation is normal for vehicles and a fact of life. The only vehicle that ever made me money was the $2K ex-police Crown Vic that I collected $8K in mileage expense money from a job I was assigned and drove my personal vehicle for.

Love the Maverick 27MPG vs 11-12MPG for the F350 the Maverick works and makes money every week. The online mileage liars are everywhere so just adjust accordingly. The F350 forums are full of guys claiming 25MPG from 6.7L diesel that isn't going to happen ever so just take extreme mileage claims with a a healthy does of skepticism.

Is the interior scuffed yup.......Especially in the back seat floorboard area where my condura nylon computer bag gets put in every day. The Bed is scuffed up has minor dents from loading unloading pallets. I don't care it's a daily driver / work truck to make the company money. Alot of people would freak over the bed but this is what trucks are for--->> to work. Looks like the bed in every other pickup I've had scuffed with minor dents.

As far as problems The RDU failed at 20K replaced under warranty no further issues. Got 40K now and front rotors are warped. I'll be replacing them at the next oil change.

This truck might be the best vehicle I've owned in 40 years. The value is there $40K for fully loaded Lariat Maverick is a bargain vs Same truck in a Ranger $55K+ / F150 $65K+. I'd buy another one no questions asked.

I had a 2022 Lariat, that was beautiful truck in Red Pepper , I had several of the common issues, including getting locked out twice while the keys were in it, at gas stations !? So I sold it, I was worried about my wife being stranded somewhere.
Now several years later, I came back and am in a 2026 LXT and hoping the kinks have been worked out. This really could, and should be a great truck. fingers crossed.

This will be a long post so feel free to skim through or skip.

I wanted to love the Maverick as Ford finally came out with a hybrid truck and it seemed too good to be true. It is. I was one of ones interested at the beginning and placed my order in September 2021. I joined this forum in November 2021 and was pretty active on here anxiously waiting for my truck. I was also a long-time viewer of Tim's weekly YT show.

I was finally given a VIN number and build date for October 2022 and ended up being one of the vehicles whose VIN was canceled and had to re-order a 2023. I eventually got my truck in March 2023, 18 months after I ordered. When I sat in it for the first time, the backseat wasn't as roomy as everyone said, but it looked good and I already waited long enough for it so I ended up buying it. I did get a great deal on it as I had the rollover rebate and X-Plan so I ended up paying about $32k for a truck with a $38k sticker price and a mark-up value of around $45k at the time.

My initial plan was that this truck would hold its value and I could trade it in after 2-3 years and move up to an F150 which is what I always wanted. Well, I was disappointed pretty early on and tried to trade it in after only 3-4 monhts and,at least in Florida they certainly do not hold their value. I was offered $29k for the truck. I decided to hold onto it and try enjoy it. I did ceramic tint all around, added a ceramic coat to it since everyone was doing it (that was a waste of money), added PFF on the hood and front, did a spray-in bed liner, and added some accessories to it to make it my own. The truck looks badass, I will give it that, especially when done right. However, it has had nothing but problems for me.

*Here are the problems if you want to skip*

  • FIrst of all, I have never gotten the magical 50 mpg that a lot of hybrid owners claim. I usually only average about 35-37 mpg which is great, but not what I was expecting. Still for a truck, I can't complain too much. The rest of the problems though are inexcusable.
  • The interior scratches if you just look at it wrong. I have two dogs and after just 3 months the interior looked worse than my Rav4 I traded in after 5 years.
  • There is something wrong with the windshield design/material as it is not strong at all. I have replaced my windshield twice in the first year from rocks and I currently have a crack that I've just been living with for the last year as I don't feel like paying or taking another insurance ding.
  • My windshield wiper tank was cracked or something as it was emptying out within a week of filling it up and the dealer couldn't find the problem, just ended up replacing it.
  • My CV axles ended up needing replaced after only 30k miles. Luckily this was under the warranty, but they had my truck for a month waiting on parts.
  • I had water getting into my cabin behind the center console and was getting my floorboards wet and moldy. I believe they said it was something with the evaporator and they replaced my entire carpet and whatever else they did. This was also under the warranty.
  • The water is coming back into the cabin, but is out of warranty and they want an additional charge to diagnose again.
  • The ambient air sensor broke and caused the HVAC system to stop working. Had to get that replaced, not under warranty $700
  • The Bluetooth randomly decides to not recognize my phone and I have to restart the truck or remember the reset sequence for the info screen, which is annoying as it happened frequently.
  • The truck will sometimes go into Deep Sleep mode and the headlights will start strobing for no reason.
  • The latest issue is I am now getting a System Shift Fault when I start the truck and it won't let me out of Park. I have to turn the truck off and restart it after a few seconds.
  • In the Ford app, I can't do see anything because it says the truck is in Battery Saver Mode. I did it previously, but it went away after I took it in for the air sensor issue. It's back now, probably because of the System Shift issue.
This truck has just had so many issues and many of them like the Bluetooth and Deep Sleep don't really seem to have a solution. The dealer said they can't do anything if they can't duplicate it and/or it doesn't trigger an error code and since it happens randomly, I'm shit out of luck. I wish I could get rid of it as a lemon, but in Florida, it has to be the same issue four times and since it has just been a bunch of different ones, nothing can be done.

This was my first Ford vehicle and while I was hoping to stay in the Ford family and move up to a bigger vehicle, between the problems I have had with this truck and with my dealer, I want nothing more to do with them. Because the resale value is shit, I have to hold onto the truck for another year or so to at least have enough trade-in value to get something else. I will be going back to Honda or Toyota where I have never had a problem outside of a Civic that needed a new header after 200k miles on it.

/tldr This truck is a POS and I regret ever buying it, but am stuck with it
You need a new battery. I too had the power saver issue with my 2022 and replacing the battery fixed it.

Yeah,I don't think anyone was more excited for the Maverick than I was so it makes it even worse. I always wanted a truck, but didn't want the terrible gas mileage. The Maverick seemed like everything I wanted. I would've put my order in the day they announced it, but I was looking for a house and didn't want the credit hit at the time.
Really am sorry to hear about your bad luck. You bought a Lariat - NEW and that isn't cheap. I suspect that if $$$ weren't an issue, you'd have dealt with this by getting something else and that's that. However, I suspect you, like most others, don't have F-U money to throw around. So the disappointment is understandable and again, you have my empathy.

Personally speaking, as someone who has owned Japanese cars for almost 40 years, most all but one of which have been positive, my Maverick purchase is a leap of faith. My last American car was a Pontiac and GM pushed me over to foreign cars at the time. I simply cannot afford to have a vehicle that spends more time on a lift than the road. And the fact that I bought a Ford, the first I've EVER owned, is another first. For me, the jury's still out and am hoping to get at least a decade of good service out of her. But if she starts to betray me, she'll be gone like yesterday's trash and I'll never consider a Ford again - inasmuch as I'd NEVER consider a GM - even still to this day.

As others have posted, maybe you'll get something better of an offer via Carvana, CarMax, Edmunds, or some other such online service. I'm positive you won't get diddly through a trade; private party, possibly better - just make sure the bill of sale clearly states vehicle sold as-is is my suggestion. Personally, I sold my 2015 Subaru Legacy to Carvana a few months ago and offer wise, it was well worth it. Hopefully, you'll have better luck. And with competition, hopefully one day in the future, other manufacturers will see the value in competing in this market space and start offering alternatives. (Hyundai tried and lost on the Santa Cruz; cool concept to me but not enough to the marketplace.)

Sorry for the ramble; just offering words of support and encouragement!

I protected my crappy plastic with a $60 dog cradle found on Amazon. It was an easy cheap fix.

Handy option if you have car seats and grandkids, too!

...When you drive a car off the lot, in most cases, it has already lost some of its value.
Yes - I am familiar with that loud KA-THUNK sound. Oddly enough, seems to happen only once every time I initially drive off the dealer's lot.

22-24 Mavericks use Sync 3 which has underpowered software and hardware compared to Sync 4 on the 25+ Mavericks. There is no simple fix to Sync 3 bluetooth problems.

The various B, A, Down, B, Up, Down, Down, Y, A cheat codes you'll find here and on YouTube are resets which can help temporarily but aren't fixes
2022 -2024 XL and XLT don't use sync 3, but "base" system, also called "synch 2.5". The cheapo version for sure. Only Lariat has Synch 3 for those years.
