I have a new 2026 Maverick XL with the 2.0L. As I look under the truck bed near the top of the spring on the drivers side, there's 2 wiring harness's. One seems to have no protective cover. Shouldn't it have a similar enclosed cover like the one next to it?
It would seem that mud, dirt, salt and all kinds of stuff would soon get into these connections and potentially cause some issues. Is there an aftermarket cover to protect this harness?

My aftermarket solution for stuff like that is outdoor waterproof industrial grade electrical tape. Going to give mine a wrap if exposed like yours - thanks for the heads up!

I see you have the optional spare tire on your XL. Nice.

For sure take that back to dealer - have them look underneath a couple other batches of vehicle.
That looks like a quality control issue.
Bin was empty that shift, part not available to grab.

I use split wire loom and then wrap it with non-adhesive wire harness tape. The adhesive on electrical tape will turn into a gooey mess after a few heat cycles.

It does make sense if you consider that the original intent was to design a $20,000 base truck.
Certainly. Yet, they are no longer 20k trucks. MSRP on mine was nearly 36k. Got several discounts that brought the price down substantially, but still, it was far from 20k

It’s an entry level vehicle not a Lincoln.
Mine was far from an entry level price. I've spent less for a Nissan and got more for the money.
The exposed wiring poster mentioned is ridiculous. If you work for Ford I understand your comment. Otherwise, why come back with such a stupid comment.

I showed my dealer the identical concern on my 2026 Maverick Hybrid Lariat. They checked 2 other 2026 models and they both have the same condition. I am searching for a solution but do not want to cover it where moisture can get trapped. I thinking of putting Dielectric grease on the connectors. I will also write a letter to Ford Corporate highlighting this poor design. Here is my photo.

So any other visitors to that spot to see if open on back of connector?
ETA: posted same time as answer to that question.

Perhaps they were just thinking of the mechanic and wanting to make it easy for back probing when things went wrong.
Because, well, the back is open.

I think I'm going to hit the ground right now!
Well ok - first, was that an AWD trim?

Doesn't look like it, also doesn't look like it would be above the cavity shield I have.

I am sure a solution can be easily fabricated. Search amazon for weatherproof box. Here is one example... You could make the cutouts big enough for the harness to go through and then silicone around them. can still be opened for service if need be. Tons of sizes to choose from

I was thinking the same but haven't found one. Thanks for the picture. I will try.
