Dealership is covering it thankfully, part is on order right now so I'm in a loaner.

I don't want to deal with this in future and don't have money for legit lift. I have 245/70/17 so was thinking of maybe just adding level lift to front end but don't think these will fit even with some trimming.

I read a 1 inch level lift from RC is ok as far as the geometry goes and shouldn't affect cv joints. Might have to get new tires 245/65/17 that will fit better.

Anyone else going thru it?

My advice would be to keep it lower than 2", and if it happens again on your dime, install the more durable Tremor CVs. Going with a lighter-weight tire might also help.

How many miles do you have on the original CVs, and how many of those were with the puck?

So the part they are going to replace it with is going to be the same? And will happen again? Was thinking of going to a 245/64/17

I got it pretty early on about 2 years ago. Probably only 13-14k miles. Truck only has 16k now

That depends on your build date. I believe some late-build 2024's got the redesigned CVs, but I'm not sure when the cut-off date for that was. If yours was earlier than that date, you'll get a better CV, but they still won't be as durable as the ones on the Tremor.

Hopefully someone will come along and answer those questions with better authority than I can provide.

Mike did you ever take a picture of the amount of angle that was on the drive shafts?
This is my completely stock XLT hybrid. Mine has some angle to it, you can tell from the boot. Granted they seem to be pretty weak shafts to begin with.
I wonder at what angle does it cause excessive wear ?

I've read they are worse on the hybrid? Is that a thing? I did not take any pictures of it but it was a 2inch lift so that messes the geometry even more.

We have only ever got confirmation that Ford redesigned the CVs for the Hybrid. Unless there is a new part number all EB Mavericks other than the Tremor are using the design from 2021.

I was thinking that as well, but couldn't remember the details and that's why I stopped adding information. I knew that it applied to the hybrid, but wasn't 100% sure about the Ecoboost. Thanks for that confirmation.

So @MadMike714, my apologies for the misinformation. It looks like you'll get the same CVs. I decided long ago that if I even put as much as a level kit on mine that I'll factor in the Tremor CV upgrade (installed by me).

Sorry to hear about the axle, but it’s great the dealer is stepping up for you!
That 2 inch lift is a tough one on the standard FX4 because the CV joints just weren't built for that steep of an angle. If you drop down to the 1 inch level to save your new axles, those 245/70s are probably going to give you some rubbing headaches. Switching to a 245/65 might be the way to go—it still looks really beefy but gives the truck some breathing room so you don't have to worry about breaking things again. Here is a pic of my Tremor with 245/65R17 Kenda Klever A/T2s. With a 1 inch level kit it would look like this. Good luck with the fix!

Appreciate the info! I heard the 245/65/17 can fit the fx4 without the level lift, do you know?

Yes, they definitely fit! A friend of mine is running them on a stock Mav.

You’re lucky your dealership covered it. 2” lift and 245 is just asking for problems.

How much has your pavement princess been off road?
