Me.

I had totally forgotten about the BMS reset. Silly me, been wondering why the charging system on my Maverick never seemed to charge the battery past 12.1 / 12.2VDC regardless on how much I drove. A 120 mile round trip, which I expected to fully charge the battery did virtually nothing. Stuck on the low 12V. So, hook up my Noco Genius 5 (Glad at least my charger is a genius  ) After 5 hours i am getting the same readings. WTF????

Well, that is when it dawned on me about doing a reset. Off to YT to refresh my failing memory. It only took me about 5 tries before I could get the BATT icon to blink. The process is as straight forward as it can possibly be but leave it to me to somehow frig it up 4 times.

Now after a short trip the battery voltage measured at the 12V power outlet with one of those combo USB / voltmeter now reads 12.5 - 12.6. Engine off, all interior and cargo light off. Even my A.S.S. is now working again after over a year.

Moral of the story, don't be a dummy like me and reset your BMS from time to time. It will make your Maverick much happier and put a lot less stress in your life. :D(y)

Yeah, but damn, I am old and find navigating that book a bit frustrating. Not impossible but damn close to it I'll tell ya. Someone here recently suggested that it seems to be organized and written with a digital copy assumed. I can see that, a search bar would be great.

Case in point, and mind you it could be me, but a while ago I wanted to look up Cargo Lights. Go to "C" and there is nothing under C for Cargo Lights. Now I am sure it is somewhere, of course. At that point it was just quicker to hit up google and keep that book on the shelf. :D

Oh I agree with you. My manual is still nicely shrink wrapped in the glove compartment. My manuals are on my phone.
The 2025 electronic owners manual does have a search bar.
What was your question about the cargo light?

It would have been the BMS Relearn that is kicked off after that process which caused the reevaluation of the SOC%, and what it's willing to charge to.
And absolutely requires that full charge be done.

Otherwise, that process happens every so often for kickoff, not sure what happens if it's a night you don't have doors locked for long enough, like cut short.
Of course if doors never lock, that would be a problem to get new figures for new SOC%.

So the only issue is reset Zero's out the figures for battery age, and cumulative charge (which might help if uneven), and maybe other things.
Older batteries have higher resistance and need more V/A, than newer batteries.
My log files show that difference over time, so the BMS system changes things depending on battery age. So a reset saying here's a new fully charged battery - learn it, could be a negative.

I am curious though - after 5 hr charge - where did it not read higher voltage?
At the powerpoint?
I mean - even though it would have been an inaccurate reading right after a charge, I'd still expect it to somewhat match what the Genius was saying.
(I only have the 2A mineGenius - no V reading, doesn't 5A have a reading?)

Now the question is - do you deal with the AS/S with manual button, or don't mind, since it's back in action now?

In my case after the lights and brakes it still takes a bit before the bat light flashes, not right away. I’m saying 4-5 seconds or so.

The part I don’t understand is when you flash highs 5 times, they automatically stop on off, the left stick anyway. Why would the manual say this. 🤔 You don’t use the right stick, or do you? Then you would flick it 10 times, to end on off, weird!

After a full charge from the Genius, I had the Green light which indicated full charge which is 4 bars. It started with the yellow second bar , yet the power point was reading 12.1 V engine off doors closed, lights off.

Yes, one would expect that but no beuno for me until I did the reset, then boom 12.5 volts and ASS working again.

Now the question is - do you deal with the AS/S with manual button, or don't mind, since it's back in action now?

I do not like the AS/S but I find it helpful to use as an early indication of battery performance as it is always the first thing to quit working when batt voltage starts to drop. It has all been really interesting. I did this yesterday and at the end of the day the battery read 12.5V engine off. This morning the battery read 12.1V sitting all night vehicle unlocked in garage temp 34F. I drove the truck 15 miles and the battery went right back up to 12.5 or so and the AS/S working.

Sometimes when I pushed the button the light would come on and sometimes it would not come on. Seemed like it had a mind of its own. LOL.

Ahhh - so you still need a Relearn - lock her up!

Just don't accidentally lock the keys in.
But if you do - at least start a new thread about how it did it automatically...
But you got in thru the back seat door...

Okay I understand that.
When you open the driver's door to get out. Do you push the button at that point?

Yeah, seems like sometimes it would come on and sometimes not. Gonna revisit it tomorrow and see what I am doing wrong. No biggie anyway as I have a tonneau cover which renders it virtually useless anyway.

This is the reason I asked the question.
When you open the driver's door to get out the truck, the bed light automatically turns on. If you reach down and push the button before you walk to the back of the bed you've actually turned it off.
I hope that makes sense.

Yup, that does make sense. That part i understand. Just gotta play around with it again and get my mind straight about it. Gets harder the older I get. :fingerscrossed:
