2028, I don't think I can wait that long! :giggle:

What would really excite me...a Maverick hybrid in Tremor trim. For me that would be heaven.
Just put some good light weight all terrain tires on the current AWD hybrid and you will have a capable little Truck. It's what I did!

I have a 2025 Rav4 hybrid XSE. I have owned it for a little more than a year. Great SUV and great mpg.
I like the vehicle, but don't love it. Why you ask? Because it's not a truck.

A little background...I owned a 2003 Toyota Tacoma for 22 years. It was the most reliable vehicle I have ever
owned. And it was a small truck, which I like. But it was time to move on to a new truck, and the Maverick
had my attention. So in 2024 I placed a deposit for a 2025 Maverick Lariat hybrid with the 4k tow package.
As soon as I paid the deposit, the sales manager came to me and told me some bad news...my Maverick
my take up to 9 months to arrive. Interesting that wasn't said BEFORE I placed the deposit.

After about 3 months I decided that I couldn't wait that long, so I cancelled the Maverick and bought the
Rav4 hybrid. It's a great vehicle, but I found that an SUV isn't for me. And I sure miss having a truck.

I'd like to buy a 2026 Maverick Lariat hybrid, and sell my Rav4 hybrid. Carvana is offering me $2200 more
than the amount I own on my Rav4. Seems like a sweet deal, right?

But when I discuss this with friends and family they say I'm nuts. That I would be making a big mistake.
After all, a Maverick will not be as reliable or long lasting as my Toyota, they say.

Anyone else make such a move? How did it work out for you?
Sorry to say, I agree with your friends. You cannot compare reliability between Ford, and Toyota. What will Toyota give you for the Rav4 if you trade it in on a Toyota truck? You will pay more, but in the long run, it will be worth more for years, when the Maverick has lost it's value. 10 year old tacos, still command big bucks.

It'll cost you to make the switch - a good bit too rather than if you waited the 6 months for your 2025.

However as far as reliability goes - My 2025 Maverick AWD Lariat Hybrid has been flawless over 14k miles. Yes - has the interior creek/popping nearing the front passenger a pillar and my interior continues to scratch but the drivetrain and mechanicals all perfect, no deep sleep issues for me.

So far Mavs have retained their value very well. I wouldn’t be hung up on value a decade from now but they’ll still sell well if you’ve taken care of it.

I have both! I bought the 2021 RAV4 in December 2020, trading in a 2014 F-150. It's been a great little SUV, but it wasn't a truck. Last year I traded in a 2012 Lexus CT for my Maverick. Both of them are hybrids. The downside is, if you want to pull anything with the RAV, 1200 pounds, if I remember correctly. I like both vehicles.

You will use some of that $2200 on Mabett products just to make that Maverick All it can Be. I just went from a beautiful 22 Ram 1500 with crew cab to the Maverick and I love it.

I had a truck for about 10 years, and sedans coexisting for longer. Truck wasn't getting good mileage, and I kind of switched to a nice crossover as my "combo" vehicle.

I got tired of that vehicle after nearly 10 years and getting expensive for service (BMW), so replaced with Toyota sedan and then a year later added a Maverick.

I'm happy with my combo again, but driving the Maverick more than I expected because I get 30-40mpg with it. Vs 11-12 I used to get on my old F-150.

I will say right up front that I am a Ford guy so I do have a bias. I ordered my Maverick in 2022, it's a 2023 Lariat Lux package Hybrid and I now have about 16K on the odometer. I accepted receiving mine in about 6 months after ordering if I was willing to forgo two Covid constraint items, my spray in bedliner and adapted cruise control. I have had nearly no problems with the exception of the well documented in this forum 12volt battery issues and those went away when Ford, under warranty, replaced said flooded acid battery with a AGM battery. The last Toyota in our family was a 2009 Tacoma and that was a great little (sort of) pick up but I have enjoyed the Maverick much better. I have found the Mav to be much better in just about every aspect with agility, comfort and fuel economy leading the way. The Tacoma only needed front brakes replaced in 38k but other than the ability to haul a bit more weight and sq ft payload, turning radius, seat comfort and poor fuel economy (it was a 4 cyl) were its downfall. I think other respondents to your thread gave good advice unless you need or want a new Mav right now, it may be better to wait awhile , with that said, the current used car market is hot so the CarMax offer is pretty good and don't be afraid of buying from a distant Ford dealership as most will make it easy for you and ship it to you. When I bought my used Mach E it came from Sil Tahar Ford in Colorado and not only did I get a great price, they took care of everything including everything needed to register it in New Mexico, I just had to make the MVD appointment.

Everyone has an opinion as you can see by the posts. I went back and forth like you did. I have a full size GMC truck and at first wanted an suv or ev with excellent mileage to cut wear down on Goliath. Toyota and Honda were first. They are the most reliable and Toyota is the originator of the eCVT, (HSD) Hybrid Synergy Drive System.. They scrutinize quality of all parts from vendors as well.
Ford got patent rights from Toyota to use this system in 2004.
All that being said, I chose the Maverick because of great gas mileage, proven drivetrain and most of all looks like a truck. Just couldn't bring myself to drive a car or suv.
Even though the maker is known for quality and reliability issues. Due to that, I purchased an extended warranty for the first time in my life. The vehicle has only left me stranded once with a dead battery and I have been to the dealer for minor issues more times than I should've. After all that I still like and enjoy the more than grocery getter.

I empathize with your dilemma.

After owning Dodge Caravans, I drove an S-10 and a Silverado for years and my wife finally had us pick up a 2019 Nissan Rogue. The Rogue is great and I loved my trucks, but decided I needed to get out of a 26 year old Chevy while we had an economical opportunity. I know there are new designs and options coming out in 2027 or 2028, but did not want to wait.

I had assumed when the time came I would get a RAV 4 or CRV, but we saw no upside to giving up truck functionality when we had an SUV already. I might have just gotten a Colorado and looked at multiple truck options, but wanted to get at least the 32 MPG we get in the Rogue, and I wanted something more comfortable on a long trip.

We needed something that offered desirable compromises.

We finally decided to order a 2026 Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid. There are a lot of things we give up that other vehicles do better, but none of those options combine those desired features in one package. For us, getting the Lariat is a splurge, and my whole family is still trying to adjust to the idea of me in a Ford. I knew I would second guess myself, and resolved simply to remind myself of why I made my final choices and celebrate it.

Bottom line, I think you have to go with what makes you happy and just be willing to take the hit if it does not pan out as perfect.
(Sidebar example: My parents bought a Pinto to get out of a Fury that got 8 miles to the gallon. The Pinto got maybe 10 and shook like a wet dog at 45 miles an hour. They quickly bought a Volare wagon.)

The Toyota is great, but if you drive around miserable about the experience, what have you gained? Which second guess would you rather live with?

I totally understand your situation. I started admiring the Maverick as soon as it was introduced, but I was driving a 2013 Highlander. It was giving me year after year of trouble free service. The Highlander was the successor to a Toyota Sienna that was the the trouble free family hauler for years. I thought that the ideal next vehicle would be a small hybrid truck made by Toyota. I started seeing the online posts about the Toyota Stout and it's apparently imminent arrival.

Fast forward to December, 2025. The Highlander has 192k miles. My trusted mechanic has retired. Toyota reports that they don't have the engineering time available to create a new small pickup for the foreseeable future. I keep getting older and don't know if a truck will be of any use to me if I wait much longer.

I got a 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD XLT on Christmas Eve. I love it. Will I still love it in 10-12 years?
Who knows?

Easy answer. How many full sheets of drywall can you fit in a rav4?
To answer your question as sensibly as the question itself based on only drywall depending how much drywall it would be the following vehicles should be the choice.

1. BelAZ 75710
2. Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD
3. Tesla Cyber Truck
4. Ford Transit Cargo Van
5. Electric Scooter...... Cut drywall into small pieces.

do you or do you not like your SUV? You'd rather drive something you don't like for years rather than ignoring most of the 'the sky is falling' Mav truck owners? my '22 has had nothing but great consistent reliable performance. Take your profit and use it for an extended warranty on your Mav you are considering buying then you're all set for TEN YEARS.
