Is it OK to use cruise control on a new vehicle?
We live in a rural area and long distance travel is the norm.
Can't find a publication from FORD on this subject.

Thank You

The general rule in engine break in is to be easy with the engine on start up until it's warm and avoid long periods of driving at the same speed, especially high speeds where the drivetrain isn't typically using the electric motor.

With a hybrid, the electric / Atkinson ICE will be in and out if you go through any hills, so even at a set speed, the engine will have varying loads.

For very long drives on a flat landscape, I would vary the speed occasionally, either with my foot or with a button during the first 1000 miles and avoid very high speeds, heavy braking and towing.

It would be very unusual for it to do any harm. But they do recommend putting your truck through all speeds practical a few times during the first 1000 miles.

But it's an arbitrary number. They had to pick something.

Lot's of people purchase Mavericks out of state and need to drive a long distance home on the highway on their very first trip.

I agree that harm is unlikely, but as @Glen Baker LLC posted a link that includes a proviso specifically for the Maverick, allowing the vehicle to ease into service isn't s bad idea either.
It certainly won't hurt the vehicle.
Being easy on other components like the brakes will also help them seat properly before they really need to do a panic stop.

As far as driving a long distance, that isn't a problem. You can drive a thousand miles in a few days, you just don't want to do that at a steady speed of 65 mph the entire time, and you don't need to, as you can easily vary the speed up and down from the posted limit.

The OP noted he'll be travelling in a rural area, which usually means traffic isn't an issue.

The mountains out here, take care of that steady speed issue.😂🤣

New engines and break-in time, when I built engines for my drag racing I broke it in at the track at full throttle, rings seat quick or not at all and todays light oil in these newer engines I give it 20 seconds and put it in gear and go

I don’t see anything problems in using your cruise in your new Maverick, I have used mine a lot on the freeway and it’s great that the censers works great and it will slow down and even come to a stop without putting my foot on the brakes.
I just have over 5,000 miles on mine and haven’t had any issues or problems.
so in other words, use what it can do.
you decide.

Actually, that is exactly what I did!

With 860 miles on the ODO I had tow.

I just had to. Was one of the reasons I bought a Maverick and not a Prius.

Absolutely nothing bad happened then or in the following 3.5 years.

Why not? I used mine the first day and no problems since.

I varied speed on my road trips during the first 1000 miles. Didn't hurt.
