Driving The Tail of The Dragon

Has anyone tested their Mav out in the Smoky Mountains? I forgot I camped out there last spring. Screenshots are from the professional photographer's website. I loved getting in line behind a group that was moving and seeing if I could keep up. I did it, but it's much easier to follow. AND I don't get the ticket!

I've ridden that road many, many times, both on my Harley and my Ducati. Fun times. Have several photos from various trips.
Lots of great roads in the NC mountains, the "Dragon" gets a lot of attention and I've found that there are many other roads that are nowhere near as crowded, and therefore more fun to ride/drive.

Just remember that when unfamiliar with the road and following others you never know if they, in fact, know where the he!! They're going.

I am also a frequent flyer on that road. Live nearby but have never driven it in any vehicle only ridden it many times. Last time was last Sun. morning. There is a fellow that is also a regular there with a lowered Mav,

Done the Dragon on 5 different bikes. Once at night in the rain. Never on 4 wheels.
It's a bucket list item but there are far more enjoyable roads in the Smokies than US129.

Not familar with the Dragon, but I assume that it goes left right left right many times. Am I close ?

It's a Darwin test. 318 turns in 11 miles. Lots of of 'free air' opportunities!

How badly did you scrape your Harley?

Ground the "curb feelers" off the floorboards of my Ultra Classic and actually got the tips of my exhaust on the Fatboy in a few corners.

US129 can be extremely nauseating for passengers in a 4 wheel vehicle, especially if they're in the back seat

I won't be down there in my Maverick but will be down there in mid April with a buddy in his FL5 Type R. I am excited as I have never been down there.

I had my 80 yo mother with me in the truck. She's never been there so I had to at least TRY and make it interesting. She loved it!

The next day I was back there doing "laps" of the dragon on the R6. haha
