Amsoil 5w-30 synthetic 1 quart: $16

Wally World Super Tech 5w-30 synthetic 5 quarts: $18

Hmmm... 😉

I'm keeping it cheap.
Supertech synthetic is actually great. Costco's Kirkland oil brand is basically the same formula. Cheap and holds up just fine.

Yep! I've used both almost exclusively for almost 10 years on my old Accord and current Maverick. Good oil, good price. I pay $8 for the Motorcraft filter and I'm out the door for $30 in materials.

I buy Pennzoil ultra platinum in a 5 qt (2 pack) from Wally World and a FoMoCo oil filter. Comes out to the same price.

Time will tell, but I run conventional 5W30 until the oil life is around 10%.
118,000 miles so far without any mechanical issues.

That said, those tiny & hard to replace oil filters on the turbo give me the heebee geebees thanks to Cherokee!
What tiny filters? What are we talking about?

Valvoline Restore and Protect video is worth watching. I'm on my third oil change with it currently. This info has been posted on this forum previously but could not find it.

Been using Valvoline for 60 years. Things may have changed over the years but a respected mechanic once told me he could tear down an engine and tell if it used Pennzoil (and that wasn’t a good thing).

Meant to say filter - not filters.

Actually it is more of a screen. Like the screen on your kitchen faucet that you can screw off and replace if you have hard water.

Our turbo’s oil screen is smaller & located where the oil feed tube enters the turbo. Only replaced if turbo is replaced due to clogged screen or other reason. $5 part. $400 labor?

Anyway, just another reason why oil changes are more important on turbo engines vs normally aspirated…

They are just screens, I think to have Ford change them is like $300 so no big deal.
I’ll do mine around 50-60,000.
The way I’m going I’ll have that much in rewards points or close to it.

Wow, I’ve never heard of that.
