I do it over chat (did it yesterday) because too often the reps' Filipino accents are too hard for me to understand.My free trial was about to expire and I got an email telling me I could get 3 months for $2.
I took them up on the offer.
When that's up in May, I'll call to cancel by talking to their cancellations department and would settle for $3 per month maximum, ( but I'll tell them $2/month) or I'll just listen to FM as I've got good radio stations that I often listen to instead of Sirius.
As others have stated, they are better off keeping a cheap subscriber that costs them nothing and boosts their advertising revenue, rather than losing a subscriber, which costs them in revenue, so you have leverage.
If you don't mind negotiating on the phone, it's an easy way to save money, not just on Sirius, but on most subscription plans like Dish or Direct, etc.
