In December 2024 the original battery went dead. They replaced under warranty. I then replaced it with an AGM battery.
On Monday all electronics dead. Battery down to 3.5 volts . Not able to charge to more 6.5 volts. I put the replacement battery they gave back in to get it to dealer and wanted them to do an oil change and check battery system.
This time the tech said that that the battery they had put in was the wrong size and needed to be replaced. Wanted to charge $350.00 when I said it was still under warranty so no charge. Is there ever going to be a lasting solution to this?

Also they want to charge me $200.00 to reprogram the ABS module. Is that on a recall?
Why would this not be under warranty?

Your dealer sucks. If it's a recall, it's free. If it's under warranty, it's free. If it's an elective procedure, better find out why you would need to do it at all.

You must have had a parasitic draw that drained it.
Unless you mean you hadn't driven it for months and Mon it was to that level.
That's not the same issue many have months on end.

Yes - they have an ACCM update to handle that potential intermittent parasitic draw.
They are investigating what they now decided must be another big potential one - or trying to figure out how to handle any future one that comes up no matter what module.

Ditto to above comment - because you need that ACCM update, current dealer sounds like they wouldn't do it.

As to advancement on what likely killed your 1st battery - no, they are only dealing with intermittent infrequent parasitic draws.
Your 1st was probably killed thru constant undercharging that left it sulfated. Unless you mean it was fine up until 1 day it was dead.
Or it was already in a bad state - and the parasitic draw got you then too.

why are you asking us!? Did you ask them?!
I believe the obvious response is "Because this is a vehicle specific forum, and he is fishing to find out if anyone else has dealt with this particular issue"

I got a new battery under warranty and was told what the parasitic drain was causing it. All I have to do now is to remember to put it park on exiting. it is a known issue with some 2022-2024 models.
Here's what they wrote in the paperwork.

MAVERICK - 2.5L HYBRID - VARIOUS ELECTRICAL SYMPTOMS AND/OR NO CRANK/NO START - RELATED TO 12-VOLT BATTERY DRAIN SOME 2022-2024 MAVERICK HYBRID VEHICLES MAY CONTINUE TO EXHIBIT A NO CRANK/NO START CONDITION DUE TO A 12V BATTERY DRAIN AFTER PERFORMING THE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL MODULE (ACC) SOFTWARE UPDATE. THIS MAY BE DUE THE BRAKE PAD SELF-ADJUSTMENT ROUTINE BEING RUN BY ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE SOFTWARE.

INFORM CUSTOMERS ENGINEERING IS AWARE OF THIS CONDITION AND IS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING AN ABS MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT IS EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE IN LATE Q2 OF 2026. TO AVOID THIS 12V BATTERY DRAIN CONDITION, INFORM CUSTOMERS THAT THEY CAN APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT THE ABS MODULE FROM RUNNING THE SELF-ADJUSTMENT ROUTINE.

Interesting, I've only had the low battery condition twice that I know of, where the interior lights did not come on. I always use my parking brake even when parked in the garage.🤔

This is very interesting.

I park on an inclined driveway and due to the slope my 2022 Hybrid applies the parking brake automatically.

I'm at 3.75 years and 60,000 miles on the stock battery and never had a deep sleep issue.

I also pulled fuse 11 for telematic at six months old so there's that.

🤷🏻‍♂️
The parking brake thing COULD explain why some people drain their battery and some don't.

Rarely ever use EPB.

Never had the intermittent drain.
(obviously I have other problems. the BMS too!)

Interesting they don't have software solution yet - which means they must not know yet exactly what kicks off the process incorrectly in the first place.

I'm going to have to have someone put the EPB on to see if I can even hear it clamp outside the cabin.
Pretty sure I've not heard it inside when I have used it.
In which case, unlikely to hear the motors doing the adjustment routine.

I'm picturing something really sad - give the backoff adjustment say 5 step levels.
Measure, but the result is between 2 levels exactly.
ABS can't have that, remeasure.
Again, nope, repeat.
Ugh, nope, repeat.
ABS - I'm going to keep this up while I got juice and get an exact level.
Fail!

@johnDeere - Got another fuse/module to measure draw on now!

ETA - actually I can use the Forscan Service to calibrate EPB, and see if I can hear it.
Can't recall anyone ever saying while walking by truck they heard noise or clicks from the rear wheels soon after park & lock.

Trying not to jinx myself. Those who have battery problems, do you use the ford app?

From 2 posts at least - it was the TCU (with modem required for remote access from Ford) that was the parasitic drain, and required replacement.
But that hasn't been the module Ford pursued solutions to - so it must not be as major as other problems, like the ACCM.
If you are in an area with terrible ATT cell network - it could mean a whole lot of retries to pass data - and an opportunity to get stuck in a draining loop when it goes off the rails. It should just fail and stop.
But it appears EPB calibration went off the rails too, so...

Also be aware there are 2 sets of battery problems.
The intermittent parasitic draw resulting in battery drain. One morning - dead!
The undercharging of the battery causing sulphation that leads to early death. Power saving stuff is at max.

The 1st can effect the 2nd making it quicker to be drained.
The 2nd doesn't mean you'll have the 1st.

Hello Mike
Thank you for the post, I guess I will need to check this out with my meter.
I rarely use the parking brake, maybe one or twice that I have owned the truck, but its not left on for a long time.
I will need to read up on this more to see what to look for and when.
So far I do not see a current drain from not putting on the parking brake.

EDIT
After looking at my fuse cheat sheet, for the under hood fuse block.
There are three fuses for the ABS.
Fuse 19 is for the Anti-lock brake system module.
It has the most merit for being the fuse to control the brake module.
I know google states a different fuse.
From what I found out, fuse 19 is powered down when the key is turned off.
I have not checked to see when the fuse 19 is powered down.

NOTE
Today, after current draw went to .00, I checked if i could apply the park brake with a stick through the open window, and yes, it will apply and make noise at the wheel.

Does anyone know if using "auto brake hold" qualifies as using the parking brake? I hate redundancy!

I have a 23 hybrid on its 4th battery I have had every module updated and every time applied. There is still another unintended leak, and the underlying problem of never getting to even 80% charge. The 23 and 24 are identical electrically. There is another tsm solution coming in q2 fi tsm54519, and nobody gas announced a fix for the 80% charging causing the battery to always sulfate.

It is not.
That literally applies pressure to all 4 brake lines.

EPB applies none. Hence the motors.
