I had my 2022 Ford Maverick tuned by Lawson Tuning Solutions. Mods were installed at Polished Performance. Went with a conservative tune for drivability and durability.

-Lincoln Corsair Turbo (slightly larger than OE)
-CV Fab Intercooler
-CV Fab catted downpipe
-Borla Catback w/ secondary cat delete
-S&B intake
-Tuned on HP Tuners

From the tuner:

I’ll say this — the biggest improvement from this tune isn’t just the power, it’s the driving feel.
From the factory the throttle pedal is extremely dead and unresponsive, and the transmission shift strategy and torque converter schedule leave a lot to be desired.
After recalibrating the electronic throttle mapping and transmission controls, this truck honestly feels like a completely different vehicle. The throttle response is crisp, the shifts are much more decisive, and the overall driving experience is dramatically better.

The 2022 Ford Maverick equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine features the 8F35 8-speed automatic transmission. This is a transverse-mounted gearbox developed by Ford (based on a joint venture with GM) specifically for front-wheel and all-wheel drive applications.

The 2.0L EcoBoost engine produces 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. The 8F35 transmission is specifically engineered for this power level. In the "8F35" name:
8 stands for the number of forward gears.
F stands for Front-wheel/All-wheel drive (transverse layout).
35 represents the torque capacity class (approximately 350 Nm or 258 lb-ft nominal, though Ford rates it for the higher peak torque of the EcoBoost through specific tuning and cooling).

The fact that Ford themselves designed and builds the 8F35 and puts it into an AWD truck with a 4000lb tow capacity and a 280 ft-lbs engine tells me that the stated 258 ft-lbs capacity for the transmission is not telling us the whole story. I'd be tempted to speculate that it might have more to do with thermal management under sustained load, not necessarily raw mechanical strength. At least, that would help explain why the 4K tow package, Lobo and Tremor all get an upgraded transmission cooler.

That's correct, Ford rates it for the higher peak torque of the EcoBoost through specific tuning and cooling upgrade

What’s the octane? where did you get your turbo?
It is tuned for 93 Octane. I bought a brand new Lincoln Corsair turbo. That was my biggest single part cost. I could have found a used one for significantly less.

I plan to take it to test and tune at the local track is in early April. It is only an eighth mile though. I would expect low 13s for a quarter mile track. With a perfect run, maybe a dip in to the high 12s.

I did a less aggressive tune to ensure smooth shifting and to prevent over torquing gears 1-3. Probably cost me 20HP and 50 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels.
