One thing I don't like about waze is how it doesn't display what road you're on. The Ford nav states the road name right underneath your location triangle so you instantly know without having to look for a label further up the map. Also waze is a bit too zoomed out at slower speeds making it harder to read road names. Ford nav is better IMO for both of those reasons. If your using turn by turn directions it doesn't matter as much, but for just general driving around the Ford nav is more convenient.

I like the pictures of the interchanges on the Ford app. I used it instead of Waze in Louisville in February when my 2024 Lariat was 15 months old.

I've owned several Fords over the years starting with a '54 Crestliner Starliner. I now have a '25 Maverick Lariat. My grump complaint is why is Ford nickle & dime us over the GPS and other things. After spending almost $40K for the truck now one year later they want $80 a year to make my GPS work :(

WAZE. FREE. Better. FREE. Did I say Free?

1‑800‑392‑3673, Ford Tech support. I have found them to be helpful.
If using Android or Apple phone, there is no need for Ford GPS. Waze, music, phone apps will all work without Ford connectivity.

Exactly, you need to confirm before buying a new vehicle what is being charged for as a subscription.

Ford doesn't charge for silly stuff like that...so far. And I would dump them in a heartbeat if they start.

Andy
Now I have to go check mine, to confirm!

Andy

Edit

I can now confirm that the map comes up in my Lariat, but no searching or setting destinations with the Ford map as that required re-activation.

There, I consider this query sorted out!

Andy
When are you “dumping“ Ford?

I have most of the higher end GPS's from Garmin...about as close to a professional GPS user as possible. Made and sell all the GPS coordinates for the Lewis and Clark Trail...80% dirt trails. My main unit is the Garmin Montana - Make most of my own latitude and longitude coordinates....my Garmin's have been in a drawer for years... None of them will touch GoogleMaps, Apple Maps, WAZE or GalaGPS, etc...to fit a wide CarPlay screen...with full voice directions, bluetooth connected to phone. Highly recommend giving one of them a try through CarPlay. GoogleMaps is probably the most popular. Failed to mention it's FREE with any Iphone. Never need software or map updates since you are running from the Iphone in real-time. If a new road opened yesterday it will probably be on GoogleMaps. The reason FORD is weak on GPS support and product is because Iphones have eaten their lunch. I can not imagine getting another vehicle without CarPlay.

I am not dumping Ford as they aren't ticking me off.

We get along fairly well, actually. ;-)

If they start charging for things that I use that should be free on a new vehicle that I like...the example in an earlier post like heated seats by BMW, is an example of excessive monetization of a vehicle We have paid for.

That would make me take a look at other vehicles when I need to move to another vehicle.

I don't use the trucks map, tried it and didn't like it. I like Waze/Google maps as my primary.

1st backup is my Garmin GPS. Does not need a cell connection and where we travel in Canada we have lots of areas with no cell service (I like thdt).

3rd line backup is a hard copy map. Cheap, at WalMart for example. And wonderful to hold while sitting outside, planning our next day.

Have a good one,

Andy

No worries, I am not understanding your meaning though...I haven't deleted any of my posts.

I edited two of them to add that I confirmed I can't use the Ford map (now that I let the subscription to expire), but didn't delete anything...ergo my confusion. When I edit, I just add the word "edit".

All good. But to confirm, I love my Maverick and have no intention in getting rid of it. 😀 I just don't need their map as I prefer other ones.

If Ford tried to add more things we need as subscription based (in future models) I would of course would move on and find a different vehicle that would meet our needs.l, when I need to replace our Maverick.

Sounds like with no subscription - all you get is map, no navigation.

Sounds like you'll be fine with the map, and the name displayed.

At least, unlike GM, You have a choice just to use your connected phone through Android, auto or Apple carplay that your already pay for. Your Crestliner just had a paper map that You were responsible for buying.
