I'm wonder if I'm missing something. I'm trying to remove my wiper arms to reset their home position which I'm guessing was incorrectly set when the windshield was replaced just prior to my purchase. I have removed the cap and nut on both and tried to remove them with mild force and some wiggling but they don't budge. I've applied penetrating spray as well but no luck, so my next step is to buy a removal tool. I just want to confirm I'm not overlooking anything?

Steve,
I know you said, your windshield was replaced, prior to buying your Maverick.
What makes you think that your wiper is out of position?
There's a small mark on your windshield where your wiper park position is I've overlaid mine with a vinyl Dot so it's easily seen in pictures. This is where your windshield wipers should be.

If you still want to pull the wiper arm.
You may need a windshield wiper arm puller. Finding the right one is key.
When I pulled the wiper arm off my wife's Escape, it took a special puller, the generic ones did not work.
I went to Safelite and ask one of their tech's, what tool they use to pull the wiper arm. He showed me and I took a picture of it with my phone. Then I Google searched it.

I will post some generic ones here, to give you an idea of what you may need.
These were too small for the Escape.
These may or may not work on the Maverick. They don't work on an Escape.

Hi Glen, thank you for the reply, photos and arm pullers. My wipers sit significantly higher at rest than yours and when in use the drivers wiper moves beyond the windshield and hits the painted area. This is the one I was considering, pretty highly rated.

Thank you Glen for the photos and wiper pullers. My wipers sit substantially higher on my windshield and when I use them the drivers wiper moves past the glass and onto the painted a-pillar. I just ordered a wiper arm puller and it should be tomorrow. Weather permitting I'll be able to give it a try đź«° I'm just surprised how tightly its on there for such a new vehicle even assuming the windshield installer over tightened it. I'll update as soon as I try it with the wiper puller.

Yes, I just ordered one and it should be here tomorrow. I'll update my results as soon as I can use it.

Well this arrived the other day and I just had a chance to try it. It was a tight fit in the working area but I did get it on. I tried tightening it as much as I felt comfortable and it didn't budge. I was concerned if I tightened anymore it would damage something. I also tried placing a long socket over the bolt with the nut removed and tapping the socket with a small hammer and still nada smh. I for sure thought that tool would pull it up. Looks like a trip to the dealer might be in my future.

I ended up going to Safelite and finding out what type of tool they use to remove the wiper arm.
Any windshield replacement service should have approximately the same tool.
Good luck

PS just thought I'd mention, I just put in for a return for this item and Amazon gave me a full refund with no return needed. May not have worked this time but maybe on another vehicle if needed or when it's eventually freed and reseated. Funny every so often Amazon does that

I found on my wife's Escape, that the wiper arm on the passenger side was a lot easier to remove than the driver side. 🤷‍♂️
Good luck
Thank you, that's a better idea than going to the dealer. I do need both adjusted.

Of course Amazon gave you a full refund and told you to keep it
It isn't their money or product.

It doesn't cost Amazon dime, to be the "Good" guys.
It comes out of the Seller's pocket not Amazon's.
Amazon is just a fulfillment Warehouse. Amazon charges the seller to advertise on their site Amazon charges the seller to Warehouse their product and Amazon charges the seller to ship the seller's product.
As far as returns and the seller.
Often times, it isn't worth the seller's time and expense to pay for the return, inspect, repackage, which is probably not an option because it's imported. Restock it, re-advertise it, as used and sell it at a reduced price.
We did the same thing for the seven years that I was doing internet Commerce wasn't worth the time, effort or cost to take back returns.

I hate to hear the seller takes the loss, I can only assume it probably comes from China and the actual cost is less than the return shipping & processing

You got it.
I get tired of people saying, Oh Amazon has Deep Pockets they can afford it. When it's actually the small business person who advertises on Amazon who gets hit with returns.
Amazon's business model they keep themselves pretty much isolated from any expenses from returns.

Keep wiggling it until it breaks free. I bought several puller styles, none of them worked, some damaged the wiper arm finish. I just wiggled and pulled and pulled and wiggled. All of a sudden it just let go. My 2 cents.
I'll gladly take your 2 cents and try again tomorrow 🙏
