Tim,
Thank You for checking this out.
I know on my 2023 whether on an incline or not my parking brake will not automatically set🤷‍♂️

My video shows about an 8 degree incline me shifting from drive to Park opening the door and it never automatically applied the parking brake.
Same here Glen. I also have 23 XLT Hybrid. Park brake never comes on anytime unless I manually engage it. Maybe only for the newer ones?

Dave,
Check out Tim's post #60 page #4 above mine.
Newer ones 25 & 26 are exactly what Tim from Long MacArthur Ford checked out. He couldn't get them to automatically engage the parking brake.
I really wish a member would be kind enough to video the parking brake automatically engaging when they put their Maverick in park.

It doesn't seem logical that my vehicle would be different than other MY25's.
I know I saw highlighted brake indication, but I'm thinking that I may have misinterpreted a brake not set warning message for the actual brake set indicator.

Sorry in advance if that is the case. No intentional misinformation.

I' would go out to verify and/or do a video but my trucklett is covered in snow at the moment.
In any case I find it more likely than not that if the parking brake is ever automatically set, it would be in special circumstances.

Got a call from my dealer (Long Lewis of the Shoals) and scheduled an appointment. Carried it in and they said it would take 2 to 4 hours, worse case 7 hours. They let me use a 25 Maverick while they worked on it.
It's about an hour and 15 min. drive to the dealer. So we did a little shopping and in about 2 1/2 hours they called and we got it and drove home. Checked the mailbox on the way in the driveway and the notice from Ford was there telling us about the recall. Perfect timing. Had no problems before the recall or after.

Good thing Glenn didn't ask for a picture of behind the rear wheel while engaged!!!

More snow - yikes.

Actually more snow in AZ is a good thing, as we're in a drought.
The head behind the rear wheel in the snow automatic parking brake test.. Not so much.

On an actually related topic, I scheduled the 25C69 Recall fix for next week.
Service department told me it was a 4 hour job.... Maybe they will get better at it by then.

I'm hoping it ends up being closer to the 2.5 hours that @SuperDad44 noted on his repair that I assume is for the same recall issue... Of course my assumptions haven't been all that great lately. 🤷‍♂️

Yep looks a little snowy. Heading to Williams and the Grand Canyon probably March or April.

Auto engage parking brake must be a 2025 feature.
It doesn't Auto engage on my 2023.
Backward or forward.
Not even on this incline

Must be a 2025 Hybrid “feature” as my 2025 EB only sets when I pull the lever up. I’ve checked & double checked.

I always (almost) set my parking brake myself - as it should be.

If I forget (rarely), my poor truck will move a bit until resting on whatever it rests on…

Edit - auto setting of the parking brake is not a “feature” on EB or Hybrids of any year. My mistake!

BTW, there is a dash warning light for parking brake issues. My 25 EB lights up for a second in the upper right hand corner of dash during the startup self check routine…

Yeah, read those again. Interesting. If Ford did this auto locking thing on the 25 & 26 years by design, that would just seem crazy to me. I would not like that at all. If I can't remember to use park brake when it is needed, then I should not be driving.

Nope. I tested my 25 hybrid tonight and the parking brake did NOT automatically set.

Your Hybrid letting you do your own setting of parking brake is admirable - but is that not the reason for the recall on the hybrid?

Ford wants to set it for you because they think you’re too busy checking your MPG numbers to remember to set your brake when you finish a drive? Actually not a bad idea really. Setting a parking brake is important!

All Snark aside, I thought the recall had to do with it not going into Park and that screwed the people who did not use their parking brake.

You’re right - sorry for confusing the issue! Sorry for the snark also.
