Hopefully this will be helpful info for someone in the future. I picked up a clamshell snowmobile trailer a few weeks ago and I'm happy to report the Maverick tows it very well! 2022 XLT FX4 with the 4k package.

Trailer (aluminum) weighs 720 lbs dry, these two sleds add about 1000 lbs collectively. Don't know exactly on the tongue weight but my guess is ~100 lbs; I can easily deadlift the tongue off the ground even when the trailer is fully loaded. The Mav tows this without even breaking a sweat. Put the truck in tow mode and set the cruise at 62 mph on state trunklines, it averages about 16 mpg. On the interstate with cruise at 72 mph, it averages about 13-14 mpg. Running 93 octane gas.

As for visibility, the trailer is 8.5' wide so mirror extenders do help, but I wouldn't say they're absolutely needed. I still was able to see my blindspot on each side of the trailer whenever I had to change lanes.

If you're considering towing a clamshell with your Mav, you really don't even need to give it a second thought.

With the shape of the trailer, it looks kinda like you're towing a Cyber Truck! 😆
You mentioned mirror extenders... have you tried anything? I know CIPA has some universal options, and one of them may work.
BTW, I've got about 43K on my 2022 VB FX4 and I'm still having fun with it. Good choice!

Hahaha that reminds me of this meme I've seen before...

I have tried mirror extenders. I have them under my back seat but in this case, I felt like I was fine without.

And what a coincidence, my truck also has 43k miles on it!

November 3rd, 2022. Mine was built in September 2022. I ordered it in January 2022, so I waited 10 months to get it haha.

Wow! I remember so many people waiting back then. I'm glad we're not still dealing with as many supply issues these days! Mine took 5 months, but I ordered early on in 2021.

For sure! Yeah I ordered literally 2 weeks before the order banks closed for MY22 because FoMoCo was so overwhelmed. Crazy to think that was 4 years ago now!

I ordered my xlt lux in late August 2021 and got it in late September of 2022. At that time I had 11k miles on my lariat first edition I bought in late February (an in stock refused delivery which my sales lady had texted saying I might have a chance for a test drive maverick about 2:30 pm or so. I bought that puppy before sales lady could return the key fob to the available to sell key board!). 🤫🤗

Shortly after I bought my Maverick, I pulled a 3 place enclosed snowmobile trailer that had 2 large ATV's onboard for a couple of hundred miles.

Other than seeing the trailer in the rear-view mirror, you almost could not tell it was towing anything. After having a number of F-150's that I towed snowmobiles, boats, and ATV's, I was really surprised at how well the Maverick trailered. The 2.0 has ample power for the job, and It's really is a great tow vehicle for it's size - Ford did their homework.

The only thing I miss is a good extended mirror setup specifically for the Maverick. I had them even for the F150's, and the narrower vehicle really needs them to safely tow. I don't know of anyone who makes a dedicated extended mirror for the Maverick yet, and the generic ones look like and have reviews that indicate them to vibrate at speed. I've been holding off buying a set until I see good ones.

My mileage was similar to yours.

Sweet! Agree, can barely tell it's back there from a weight perspective. I also agree, I would love to see Ford or some aftermarket company make a true extending mirror that bolts right into the factory mounting holes.

I towed in Normal drive mode. It seemed to work well as is, so I didn't switch it. Anyone that is hesitating buying a Maverick because of towing worries is missing out.
