I suppose it depends on whether and how much other "stuff" you plan on buying. The Executive membership gives you 2% back on stuff bought at Costco, but there are a number of exclusions. If you buy at least $3,252 worth of applicable stuff in one year then the extra cost of the membership pays for itself with the 2% reward.

I'm just glad they brought back the executive shopping hours (executive members get in 30-60 minutes earlier). Going on a Sunday morning during executive hour is basically a Costco cheat code. I can be in and out within ten minutes if I don't browse around.
Yes, the Costco near me seems like it's always swamped including the line for gas. This is another factor that makes it somewhat less appealing to me personally. I'm also at a place where I'm trying to minimize "stuff" in the house so I don't know if we would buy that much or not unless we were grocery shopping there regularly.

I do not know if Costco still does but many years ago when the rebates came two months before renewal and it was not enough to pay renewal you could go to service counter and renew with the rebate check instead of paying the $65. Also some of the pumps open earlier than the warehouse does.

Since you live so close, you can just go during off-peak hours. I just sneak out of the house and go top off the fuel tank early in the morning on the weekends. There's usually no wait; just pull right up like any other gas station.

Going like, Saturday at 2:00pm means you're in for a 10-20 minute wait.

Yeah now the 2% reward comes emailed as a barcode that any cashier can ring up, or you can request a check.

The gas station has way longer hours than the store in most places. Usually like, 6:00am to 10:00pm depending on the day and the locality.

I like how the cash-back reward from the Costco Visa can be direct deposit if it's big enough. Technically we are empty nesters, but I am looking forward to a nice $900 bump in the next few weeks. :sunglasses:

As far as the gas stations, I think Costco does a pretty good job of recognizing when demand exceeds supply. Last year they expanded our fuel center from 12 to 18 pumps, and I rarely wait in line anymore... but like you say, I avoid that whole part of town Saturday afternoons.
