That demo platform has been around awhile - glad he got to use it.

Too bad they have not put some actual small electric motors in it instead of hand cranks, and just allowed some toggle switches to change speed or stop as presenter is talking.

Have a little computer control - so you can have a pre-programmed routine going thru the drive cycles. Display some example RPM's to see differences.
Even different makes by allowing a belt to be moved to demo say series hybrid.

Yup, I've seen the demo setup before but he has a huge audience. Ironically he personally owns an 2024 Ecoboost AWD, metioned he wanted a Hybrid but as we all know it wasn't available in 2024.

Personally I love CVTs in my roadtrip cars if they are done right. They drive much more like an EV which is always in the right gear..lol.

I love how it works.

Personally I just set my speed as often as I can and try not to think about it. (I am very glad for the lack of fake shifts.)

This, and also one of those working scale model engines. A V8, just for the hell of it. 🙃

If you put it into sport there are fake shifts but they are very minimal.

I get it, It's very efficient and reliable. And the perfect transmission for a hybrid. I do not doubt this.
The simulated tachometer movement for us old timers to make us feel at home with gear shifts is cool.

But Still, The Maverick Ecoboost would have been way cooler with a five speed manual option.

And the hybrid, Prolly wouldn't perform as efficiently but I bet It would be a blast with the 2.0 Turbo
and a hybrid battery about three times the size of the current one.

Still superior to Jatco (Nissan) that had fake shifts if you drove it normally but would do the "hold the rpm" if you floored it from a dead stop.

My daughter has a Nissan Rogue, which uses a CVT transmission. I'd never heard of (or given much thought to) a continuously variable transmission system, but it grabbed my attention when her transmission went down. That was an expensive fix for her. Fast-forward to my researching the Ford Maverick: when I learned the hybrid had an eCVT tranny, I almost walked away. A little more study revealed the brilliant engineering of the eCVT (and how different it was from the belt-and-pulley CVT). I spent some time watching the above videos and reading more about eCVT. It's freakin' brilliant. With very few mechanical wear components, no clutches, no torque converter, and no metal belt, this design is both mechanically elegant and highly durable. It feels like a secret weapon.

Ya - that V8 engine suggestion, at least put the model around the electric motor.

That model has been out in videos for years, time for them to upgrade.
