I live in the desert, and it gets really hot here. When the temperature is above 105 or so the regenerative braking kicks into engine braking, the hybrid battery doesn’t charge very well and it’s harder to get the electric motor to kick on. I also started noticing a rough transition between the regenerative braking and engine braking, along with a scratching grinding type noise at times.

when I drained the eCVT the fluid was still red, so I figured it may have been a waste of time to change it.

But when I drove it today (109 degrees) the regenerative braking system worked much better, the electric drive worked better and when it did switch between regenerative braking and engine braking it was smooth.
