I am about at the end of my first year, and my 'Premium Connectivity' is about to expire. Will I lose Apple Car Play? I do use that feature all the time

Good day

We have a 2025 Lariat bought 25 Jan, 2025.

We just ran out of our premium connectivity subscription and everything (Android) connects properly.

Extrapolating that my truck still works for connecting and using Waze, I feel yours should be fine as well.

I believe that's just the data plan via AT&T for the builtin navigation, streaming, hotspot, etc.

Android Auto and Carplay are separate and you'll still have access.

I didn't realize I had Premium Connectivity until I started getting the notifications that it was expiring. I don't use the included navigation, and I definitely don't use Alexa or the karaoke "feature." I'm not about to start now.

Same here. I’ve never tried using the built in Ford Premium stuff. Not even sure how to.

Have never used anything except Apple CarPlay in my 2025 Maverick XLT.
It probably won't be too long before Ford goes the way of GM and doesn't add CP/AA capabilities to their new vehicles to force new owners to subscribe to their services if they want any "smart" capabilities.

Are you sure? Real question...Our free year is over (so the message on my phone said anyways) and our Android works with the truck, still showing maps etc today, while we were out and about.

Now I will be watching to see if they pull that away.

Not a concern, only a very slight inconvenience if we lose it, but I hope not.

Have a good one,

Andy

Well - that's basically the pre-25MY's you are referencing. Had to manually go sign up for the free year.
So they already did that route.
Take rate was probably so low - they threw it in automatically for the 25MY - hoping owners would keep and pay for the service.
I'm betting the take rate will be just as bad when the free year is done.

Your hotspot is gone - ohhhh.
So anyone in your truck using a tablet that requires wifi is hosed. I think the kids will make it.

Carplay not effected - as that's your phone providing the connectivity.

If you had used the built-in navigation and not connected your phone - now a problem.

Yes it seems my phone is working, and I just remembered we made several phone calls while we were out and they worked as well, through the truck as well so that is good.

All good, either way. We only use our phones connected to the truck, anyways...not the rest of the stuff like wifi.

Cheers,

Andy

Well, there had to be somethinging that would make me consider a dodge . . .
:teehee:

the sync4 on my '25 can't even handle remembering to stay connected to the phone it was connected to when turned off five minutes earlier.

Ford isn't even close to a viable AA/CP replacement.

Sync 4 works perfectly on my Lariat. I use Alexa for basic stuff like changing the radio station, adjusting cab temperature, changing air flow, Smart home stuff, etc. Unfortunately it doesn't understand heated seats. All those are "basic" functions. What the premium/subscription provides are the streaming services, advanced navigation, news/weather, etc. In short, anything that goes out to the internet for data sources.

I use Gemini and Android auto on my Google Pixel phone for the internet-based stuff.

I think that if you want hot-spot capability, you can separately choose multiple plan options from ATT. I did a week for $15 on a recent trip cross country so that I could use my laptop (my ATT work service doesn''t allow hot-spotting on the phone).
