Articulate & Interesting review of the 2022 EB that popped up on my YouTube feed. EGR valve replaced ($600) but otherwise the EB is fine.
3K oil changes.

About $2,500 in oil changes, $10,000 in gas, $600 in engine repairs.

Everyone is unique when it comes to oil changes. Maybe this guy could have done 6,000 mile changes and saved $1,250 - but would his repairs be as low?

Many of us try to find the “Goldilocks” interval - not too long & not too short for our driving. Many just go by the book 10k miles or 12 months. Some go longer - on purpose or by chance.

In hindsight, I think this reviewer realizes his 3 year old truck won’t survive to be his 10 year truck and will change his oil less frequently;)

MSRP $27,145 for 2026 XL EB AWD.
Has a later gen 2.0l engine than the reviewers, but otherwise pretty similar I think?

The 2022 XL AWD 2.0 EB MSRP was about $25,100 per Google. If so, the reviewer got a good OTD of $24k.

Love seeing good reviews on the Mav. Makes me confident in my purchase. Sometimes when you browse forums all you seem to hear are the bad things and it can make your confidence start to slip.

The guy who made this video seems like a really nice guy. I agree with him that the vehicle clearly feels lightly built. I feel like its still a quality vehicle for the price, but it doesn't feel as hardy as older trucks like the Ranger he talked about. I'd be interested in his logic on 3k oil changes. I do mine every 5-6k and I get told that's a short interval for a modern car.

I’m not even close to 90K but his assessments and descriptions pretty much match up with mine. Exception is the seats. I have no complaints.

I agree with you 100%, I'm going in for my 4th full synthetic oil change with only 11,400 miles on my truck because if I don't follow the recommed service, (every 12 month, or miles) it could void my warranty. Just another loophole so they don't have to pay.

I’m at 31k miles and I’m getting ready to go for my 5th oil change soon

Oil change is the key
I had an 87 Ranger and put 744k highway miles on it with oil changes every 2500miles using Castrol dynosaur pee. Yes, changing oil much more than recommended seems to be the key.

Interesting video... he likes it, has only had the 1 issue, but feels like something is going to happen so he wouldn't buy one with 90,000 miles, but would buy a new one? Not sure what to think overall.

I am a little over 46K in about 25 months of my 23 xlt hybrid and have had no issues so far. I am hoping to have it for a long time and so far good. I do think seeing all the negative posts can jade your view though.

I go by the trucks statement when to change (right now its at 57% change time left. I hope that is correct thought when to change to keep warranty. Can't see why it wouldn't be. I do my changes because its $150 where in south florida. I keep receipts and show picture.

I’ve yet to read a post on this forum regarding an EB engine failure that required proof of oil change frequency for warranty activation.

A few forum members have toasted their turbos - but seems Ford replaced under the power train warranty.

I think changing your oil regularly keeps your power train healthier - but you’d have to be really negligent to kill our little EB’s?

That said, the “jury is still out” on the latest EB in the 2025 onward. So far I’ve only heard of a potential faulty high pressure fuel pump causing oil dilution - so I’m changing my oil appropriately & keeping documentation!
