I wonder if his comments really hint at the Maverick and Bronco Sport being in the same "family" as far as price point and the demographic targeted. I don't see any reason to do something like a Maverick SUV because the Bronco Sport is their entry-level SUV. He may also being including the Maverick in with the Bronco "lifestyle" that those vehicles target in their marketing.
Yeah - I think the comment is probably more along the lines of adding alternate versions - ST, Timberline, Etc. I would think of it like the Bronco and Bronco Sport - 2 completely different vehicles under the 'bronco' brand.

It smells to me like they are going to do a maverick family similar to the F-150 family with all sorts of flavors but the same base vehicle. They already have the bronco sport and escape and sedans are dead so there isn't really anything else they can do. Bet the base mav becomes a barbie doll they dress up every which way. There is no doubt they could easily put the dual clutch rear diff, lift it and make a real off road version, for instance. But still a maverick.

If Ford did this, what other Maverick-brand vehicles would you want to see?
Ford stated a while back that a van could easily result from Maverick hybrid to work for delivery services.

(think transit connect hybrid)

Ford Maverick SUV - 5 minute photoshop. Lengthened the rear doors (more legroom for rear seats). I like it, kind of like a 90's Pathfinder.

Ford Maverick Maverick may become sub-brand with additional vehicles says CEO Jim Farley Ford-MaverickSUV

They could also remove the rear door, raise the roof and make a Ford Transit pretty easily but not sure if it makes sense to go that route.

I could see that being perfect for many commercial and government applications. Might be popular with individuals as well.

If it sat a little lower they could make a hybrid mini Flex.

I’ve been saying all along this reminds me of Scion. This is just another reason

I had 4, my ex husband had 4. They were awesome. Loved my first gen xBs, had a 2nd gen and wasn't a fan, sold it fast. I also had an xD that I adored.

An ST, but only if they're true to the ST's heritage and offer it with a manual. Kudos to Honda for maintaining the manual in the SE.
I would trade my hybrid in on a manual is a second.

Article did not make sense. Bronco Sport is the maverick suv. Basically a Maverick with a top is a ford Flex. And it did not sell. . .

I think ford will build different small trucks off the maverick name. So an EV maverick, maybe 2 door (not likely) Basically different configuration of the small trucks.

At this point, how bout they get up to date on current orders and builds THEN they can worry about new vehicles.

Signed,

The guy who complains about people complaining about waiting for the truck they ordered way too early before production began.
Just trying to get the old foot in the door so to speak, At least I haven't fiiled my garage with parts for a truck that's not even built yet! unlike some other people

The current maverick hybrid is exactly what I want, but if I were at ford and had to make one, I would love a version with the 2.3 to compete with the Hyundai SC 2.5t. Not the one used in the Lincoln Corsair either, the mustang performance pack one.

With a heavily marketed and anticipated release of a vehicle like the Bronco, It makes sense that we are treating it like a sub-brand. I think the maverick is a bit of a similar story.

When it first came out in 1970 it did better than the model year Mustang and its already done this well this early into its release. I hope that once orders start rolling out without as much of a constraint on production for even a base XL, that people will begin to see the true potential of this vehicle line.

(This is purely an opinion and perspective post. Not trying to be political or argue with anybody)
GO MAVERICK!

Jim is a marketer at heart. I can see what he sees and Ford could pull off a family of "Maverick" vehicles if they do it right. It would most likely be tied to its platform and utility.

It could be other versions of the truck. It could even be a commercial van that's set to replace the Transit Connect - that will be built on the same platform and at the same plant in a year or so. Designing it around the Maverick would not be unheard of.

If you ever wanted a Maverick ST, Tremor, Raptor, etc. this is what you need to happen.

I don't know why they would try to make a work van "cool" by branding it Maverick. It would just weaken the branding of the truck. I would really love to see an extended cab version of the Mav, but it doesn't seem likely. Maybe a larger unibody truck more like the Ridgeline? Doesn't really make sense either, it would just take sales away from their cash cow F150.
