Ran my oil on third change for 11,000 miles (rounded). Here is my analysis from Blackstone for anyone interested. Oil changed at dealer to keep warranty records intact for the drive train.

Oil life monitor was at 29%.

Engine wear (and lack of it) is shown in this report.

TBN will tell you the relative health of the additives in the oil.

It costs $10 and is not needed for shorter milage change intervals.

All popular name brand oils will have additives that last for 10,000 miles or more.

Once you start getting up into the 15,000 18,000, even 20,000+ mile oil change interval, it's nice to pay the $10 to see how the oil additive package is holding up. Likely, it will be fine.

I've gone 14,000 miles in the Maverick and 20,000 mies in another similar vehicle running Mobil 1 and always good lab reports came back.

Thanks for sharing.
More data that HYBRIDS do not need oil changes as frequently as EcoBoosts do.

I change my Ecoboost at 5,000 mile intervals because of the turbo. Full syn of course.
The analysis data would be useless to me.

Oil Analysis should be used to identify problems before engine damage occurs? As a preventative measure?

Waiting 14,000 or 20,000 miles to do an analysis defeats this purpose?

If you know that in your driving situation the actual engine miles may easily be 50% or less of road miles due to being a hybrid - and even those engine miles are good ones (easy highway) - not really much of a risk.

And while testing when you indeed already have trust from prior experience may not allow catching things early - doesn't seem there's much to catch from all the hybrid posted oil testing.

The Maverick’s Atkinson is reliable for sure - and using the Oil Analysis to see how far you can go without changing oil is useful. Until it isn’t.

Anyway, you don’t need to change your oil to grab a sample to test. Blackstone would still do the test as long as you’re paying:)

I do like 11,000 miles. Great report.

Then NEXT oil like 14.000 mikes. Great report.

Then if so inclined, 16,000 or 18,000 miles. Good report. Everything in the green. But additives on the lower end of the spectrum.

Then I'll go years without testing while still changing oil "about" once a year. Miles will fluctuate between 11k and 18k depending on how many road trips. Only once did the on board oil life monitor tell me to change before 10k. That was after a COAST to COAST road trip towing.

Mobil 1 has been consistent and reliable for me for 20 years.

I'm not claiming it's the best or better than others, just that it is perfectly fine for 20,000 mike OCI in a Ford Hybrid. So I stick with what I know.

Good advice - especially on tests when incorrect answers are penalized!

But on forums, I let myself slide & assume other members are wise enough to question any/all opinions - especially mine:)

Thanks for posting your results. Looks great. These 2.5L Hybrid engines have been known to go 400,000-600,000 miles in NYC cabs.

However, for full disclosure, could you tell us exactly which 0W20 motor oil this is? For example, there are several Mobil 1 0W20’s (Extended Performance, High Mileage, Advanced Fuel Economy, Hybrid, Truck & SUV etc.), Motorcraft, Pennzoil, Valvoline….?

How do you know that it isn't residue left over from manufacturing the engine which lives in the crankcase forever.?

I have the turbo boost engine, non hybrid. Is it really necessary to change the oil every 10,000 miles? My engine has a total of 9,250 on it now. THANKS. 👍🏻

Yeah, I definitely would. If you only drive highway and rarely drive on a cold engine, then maybe you could get away with it, but virtually everyone should be following the severe-service/taxi schedule since they are a lot harder on their oil than they think. The oil is under a lot more load in a small engine with twice the horsepower of an old V8. Also only use full synthetic meeting the proper Ford spec, that has the newer detergent and anti-wear packages in it. It makes a difference.

Nice to see the wear metals and fuel dilution so consistently low on these reports with the 2.5L.

I had a Prius C hybrid before this with a 5K fixed maintenance reminder, so I just followed that with 0w20 Super Tech oil and filters ($20 oil change) rather than FAFO, even though there were many reports of Toyota hyrbids doing just fine with intervals as long as 20K, depending on driving conditions. With that in mind, I was surprised to see the oil life monitor in this vehicle recommending intervals over 10K miles though, and a bit skeptical.

Having to jack up the car and crawl around removing the splash guard which is annoying, along with this data give me more confidence to do the 10K intervals, maybe even just follow the OLM or 1 year using any brand oil. I am switching to PG241EX filters though.

Good report. But I am focusing on viscosity numbers. The OP should compare the numbers to the oil specifications, or ranges. I’ve use Motorcraft, both blend n synthetic, and my reports suggest shearing.

Curious as to what % your Oil Life Monitor is showing? How many months has the same oil been in your Maverick? Thanks!
