I am 60 years old, own a 2024 Atlas Blue Metallic Mavrick XLT, and I also own a 2014 Oxford White Ford F-150 XL 8' Bed (w/tow package). Love them both, and they do what I need them to do.

I bought my 1977 F100 when I was 20, that would make me 68.
Btw I still own the F100 🛻🛻
Ha, curious how the two trucks specs would compare. Funny, I've been wanting to buy a vintage Ford pickup from 70s.

Was filling up the Mav a couple days ago and the fellow on the other side of the pump filling up his motorcycle came over and asked how I liked the Maverick. Led into a conversation for a few minutes telling him why I liked it, and he really seemed to appreciate it too (he mentioned he had previously owned a mid 90's Ranger). He was probably in his late 50's - early 60's. In my mind I immediately remembered this very message thread and thought "yep, he fits the demographic".

It's hard to believe there is only a 2kg (4.4lbs) difference in weight between the two trucks.
The Maverick benefits from 48 years of advancements in technology.
For example the 2.0L Ecoboost makes 238 hp whereas the 5.8L (351 cu/in) made 161 hp.
The modern brake with ABS are better.
A base model 1977 F100 Custom came with a 300 cu/in 6 cylinder and a 3 speed column shift transmission.
It sold for $4325cdn.
There were 3 trim levels above the "Custom". The Explorer, Ranger and Ranger XLT.
They offered 4 other engines and 2 transmission.
Power brakes, power steering, air conditioning, tinted glass, gauges, radio, cruise control were all options.
They also had mirror options.
A cool option back then was you could order a truck with a two tone paint job.

Amazing how much larger the truck grew over the years . I'll just rebadge my Mav to a F100 and carry on. I bet there's a huge difference in mpg as well. I forgot to mention, a prerequisite of my vintage truck will be a two-tone paint job. 😄

Not only did they offer color options they also had choices as to where the second color was applied.

I had 2 trucks with the 300 l6. Both had a 4 speed floor mounted shifter. Low was very very low. (Granny Gear) That engine was/is bullet proof. Lots of torque. One of the best engines ever put in a truck.

The F150 came about to cheat the milage requirements. It was a slightly heaver truck with a bit more capacity than the F100 so it was not subject to the same MPG and emissions rules at the time. Chevy did the same with the "Heavy Half" or a 5/8 ton truck. Ford sold both the F100 and F150 at the same time for a while then settled on the F150. Motortrend did a great article on the truck. https://www.motortrend.com/features/ford-f-150-from-1948-to-2021

Wish I still had my Dads 1977. 390 V8, 3 on tree, vinyl interior, no power steering, no power brakes, cost right at 3K. I took my drivers test in that old girl. You could hose down the interior when you washed the truck. He Finally sold it at 300K miles.

Hope my Mav lasts as long!

Just curious. What's the age of the Maverick owners on this site? I'm 61. Any women owners? At our dealership, most Maverick owners are older (50+) and male. I think I've seen only one female Maverick owner at our dealership. I don't think I've seen any who are under 50. The Maverick seems like it would be something that would be popular with young people given it's practicality and entry level price. But the young people I've talked to personally like the way it looks, admit it'll meet their needs, but aren't interested in buying it because they seem to think it's a old man truck .
52 male. Use mine for work and daily driver. Wanted a hybrid truck with AWD so waited til 25 when it came out. Very happy with it.
I have seen 30 something’s driving them in my area of PA (Philly suburbs)

The 390 was not available in 1977.
77 was the year they dropped the 360 & 390 for the 351/400M's.
The F100 was discontinued when the Ranger came along.

You are correct sir, Typing Early with brain fog. it was a 69 F100 not a 77. Looking through old pics to see if I can find a picture. He replaced it with a 77.

I remember the 1976 with the 390 . It was a solid truck. But it would NOT pass a gas station, especially with an automatic.

The 2.0 EB is rated at 250 Horsepower on 91 octane?

That is correct for the 2024 and earlier 2.0 EB. On 87 octane they make 231 hp.
The new for 2025 2.0 EB makes 238 on 87 octane.
I haven't seen figures for the new engine with 91 octane.

2025 2.0 EB is still rated at 250 Horsepower and 277 lb.ft of Torque on 91 octane someone posted the 2025 Ford Specs on Here.
