In this video, Edmunds’ Emme Hall compares the 2026 Ford Maverick, 2026 Ford Ranger, 2026 Ford F-150 and 2026 Ford F-250 to help you decide which one is the best fit.
But... Edmunds DIDN'T compare the 2026 Ford Maverick to anything, as the vehicle they have is clearly a 2025 Ford Maverick, as the Eruption Green is a 2025 only color (leaving aside the basic question whether any 2026 Mavericks even physically exist yet on the planet Earth).

Given the 2026 Mav will be (virtually) identical to the 2025 Mav, I'm certain it wouldn't change anything Edmunds says here, but "technically correct" is the best kind of correct...

The AWD 4k hybrid is the reason we went from "those Mavericks are sorta cool but don't really fit our needs" to "wow, this is EXACTLY what we need. Let's buy one"
yep, I'm about to order one myself cause it can now tow my boat and get 40mpg when not!

I honestly thought the Ranger was much closer to the F-150 than the Maverick in size, but maybe it just looks bigger because of the styling. Things are going to be weird for Ford if / when the new compact electric pickup launches and they are selling 6 different trucks (counting the F-150 lightning as a separate model, if it stays in the lineup).

Wonder how many Mavericks could fit in a Spruce Goose.

Or F-250 long beds in the Titanic?

tl;dr
What's funny about your image is the ironic fate of the An-225: built by the Soviet Union when Ukraine was an S.S.R. and destroyed by the Russians after the fall during the current war.

Edmunds pits the Maverick against the Ford Ranger, Ford F-150, and Ford F-250 Super Duty to answer the question - how much truck does one truly need?

Description:

Compared to other automakers, Ford has the most extensive lineup of trucks, ranging from the compact Maverick all the way up into full-size Super Duty land. But which one is right for you? In this video, Edmunds’ Emme Hall compares the 2026 Ford Maverick, 2026 Ford Ranger, 2026 Ford F-150 and 2026 Ford F-250 to help you decide which one is the best fit.

Small or compact trucks like the Ford Maverick have great prices and will fit just about anywhere, but can they tow or haul enough for you? Midsize trucks like the Ford Ranger can do a lot, with more power and capability than small trucks, but they may not be flexible enough for your needs. Full-size or large trucks like the famous Ford F-150 are mighty capable and comfortable, but can also be expensive and may be overkill for your needs. Big heavy-duty trucks like the Ford F-250 have massive power and massive towing and hauling ability, but they also come with massive price tags and...they're just plain massive.

So how much truck do you actually need?

it depends on the need it wouldn't surprise me to see some joker with 30 sheets of plywood in the bed and bitchin about how the truck squats or you cant steer it.( on a Maverick that is)

I thought they might actually do some comparisons for plywood or loads or something similar but they do not - just highlight all the trucks.
You assume the person responsible for the video is independent and not doing a propaganda video for Ford either with or without Edmunds knowledge.

The Maverick...
Hey, it's the CLOSEST, I will ever get to a Ranger... Ever again.. :cautious:

Jerry
The "advantage" of the Ranger is that it's not unibody, so you can actually lift it (allowing taller tires) for better ground clearance without F-ing it up. If you need to do that kind of thing.

Well between the cost of the Ranger ($30,000) (June 2019) + the cost of a New Garage ($45,000 and up).
I did go with the LESS EXPENSIVE Option.. 😛
PLUS++ The 2019 > 2026 Ranger is the same size as my first truck... A 1977 F-100..(Same size as the F-150, just less junk added).
Which STILL wound NOT fit into my garage..
My only other option.. Would be to move out of the City and find a new lot for... say.
$350,000... Which would take a BIG chunk out of MY Retirement $$$$..

Jerry

I know about the "Body-on-Frame", I owned 36+ years of Rangers.. If Ford still made them, that SIZE, I probably wouldn't be posting here...

281.57 🦄

Spruce Goose = 165,000 Cu Ft, (Cargo - Interior)
Ford Maverick = 586 Cu Ft, (max exterior) (L: 201" x W: 69" x H: 73")
Weight = 281.57 (# of Mavs) x 3674 lbs. (2022 XL) = 1,034,488.2 lbs. (517.2 tons)

Goose Cap. = 65,000 lbs.
Maverick 2022 XL = 3674 lbs.
Which means ONLY... 17.7 Mavericks could be carried at one time...

Uh, they did.

It was better than I expected. I don't regret the Maverick, but sometimes I wonder if I should have sprung for AWD and 4k.
AWD and 4k was a big upgrade for me and why I traded my 22 in for a 25. It allowed me to get the travel trailer we wanted. Makes the Maverick so much more versatile!
