I'm trying to make up my mind if the Maverick will work for me. I love the size and features but i also need to be able to negotiate off road tracks in the back country. Does anyone have any experience using their Maverick off road?

I drive often on rough gravel fire and logging roads. My 2024 stock AWD Lariat Ecoboost does just fine. These roads are graded so heavy trucks can haul logs.
But my Mav is not a jeep or a 4x4 Taco.
AWD is not 4x4

8 or 9 inches of ground clearance and a 121 inch wheel base does not make an off road vehicle.

Closest I've been would be while visiting the fair in Harford PA after several days of rain. The parking lot is basically two fields that share a low spot in the middle (bottom ). Roughly 4-5 degree slopes. The bottom was basically a bog. All 4X4 vehicles were directed through the bottom and we were assured the "mud crew" would pull us out if we got stuck. The crew was several teens with backhoes and ropes who were having a ball. Anyhow I selected Mud and Rut mode, switched to the Intelligent AWD screen and went for it. Mud was as deep as my stock tires were tall.
Never spun a wheel and had no mud fling onto the fenders. It just drove through the slop.
As previously mentioned, ground clearance isn't the most awesome, but it boils down to where you need to go and what clearance you might need.

Remember the VW bug? chuckle...that little car could drive circles around many so called" off road" vehicles. My dad had a 62 bug and when he passed away i ended up with it. Was a fun little car that gave great mpg for the time but would only go 71mph. I had lots of fun with that bug and even rolled it once and crawled out wondering what to do. My buddy said we will just roll it back over and we did, piece of cake no damage, waited a little while and made sure the oil was where it belonged and then much to my surprise it started up and i went home. At that time I also had a CJ5 and liked to play in the mud in the fields behind my home and one day my jeep would not go. I knew better than to spin the tires digging in when slipping so i walked home and one the way saw my neighbor which hatched an idea in my mind and i asked him if he would like to take a ride to get my jeep un stuck and he said ok. We got in that bug and headed out into the field. There was one spot on the way with standing water that was not deep and i knew the bottom was solid so when we approached it I said hang on and went for it. The little bug seemed to go under water for a few seconds then daylight appeared and we came out the other side making it to the jeep. I hooked a strap up to the front of the jeep and to the bug getting my neighbor to run the jeep with instructions to just barely move as i pulled with the bug. Much to my surprise it worked and the jeep was free again and we got both vehicles home without further issue.
My point being that the Maverick being light with the proper tires and awd will be able to handle sticky situations much better than most other vehicles.....chuckle...and I am going to find out how good it really is! We do know it can achieve 40mpg now lets see if it can't become the bug of the future:like:....

Oh, almost forgot. That's a good looking Maverick you have.

The individual automated brake actuation overcomes much of the traction limitation of open diffs for light off-roading, but limited slip is certainly a better, more reliable, alternative if you don't need a 4K tow package. I've been very impressed with my FX4 on trails, especially considering the generally poor suspension articulation of IFS front and rear. I've traveled many moderate-rated (OnX ratings) trails in the Rockies with little issue. The approach angle is the limiting factor for my uses, and I will likely install front levelling springs and larger AT tires for some improvement eventually, keeping in mind that I'm fully capable of replacing worn CV axles myself. I'll likely install Tremor CVs when it comes time to do so.

For the more difficult stuff, I take my Bronco or Jeep.

I use mine off road a decent amount.
I added sand mode to mine and mud mode. Different tires and a skid plate.
it’s been a very capable and even and overachiever imo.

The standard AWD system is the same for hybrid or ecoboost. Here is an objective slip test and it's not great.

It's a hell of a lot better than simple open diffs F&R. The off-road modes would also help here...

Unfortunately the off-road mode doesn't fix the open diffs on the standard awd system. The system does not transfer power from wheel to wheel it just applies brake pressure to the wheel with less traction.

Yeah, I'm not sure why anyone would think it would. They do, however, automatically disable traction control, stability control, and don't neuter wheelspin and reduce accelerator sensitivity as slippery mode does. Using brake actuation to shift traction cross-axle with an open differential doesn't work well when you can't get the wheels spinning, as illustrated by the example video.

I'll agree to that and I'm sure if Tommy really gave it the beans in sport and turned the steering wheel he could get off but if you look up a Tesla Model 3 slip test it absolutely crushes that same slip test - the Mav's standard AWD system is adequate for on road use. I wouldn't trust it much off the pavement but that is just me.

Trust in a system from watching videos and actually using a system off-road and knowing what it's limitations are, to me, are two different things.

I can show you other video examples of the Maverick's system "crushing" Subaru's system, but I'm not going to make judgements about either system without actual experience.
