Nice! Thanks for the real world story and the pics. A theme among experienced campers is to not take more than you’ll need. It’s always a balance between mobility, comfort, safety, and preparedness. Glad you can get access to such beauty in the Maverick.Took advantage of the long weekend to get out and see what I could get myself into. And I was surprised with how much I was able to get over and through. Besides catching the hitch a couple times and brushing the underside on a washout it handled it pretty good even getting up on 3 wheels a couple times.
My tent on the other hand definitely needs a different mattress, the memory foam that comes with the Yakima skyrise is way too firm especially as a side sleeper.
I feel the need for a solar shower would be nice for longer trips aswell as stuff like dishes or washing off after walking on sand. I believe that will be next.
As long as my buddy can get his 4runner fixed we will be doing another couple day trip next weekend this time a little more challenging.
