Took advantage of the long weekend to get out and see what I could get myself into. And I was surprised with how much I was able to get over and through. Besides catching the hitch a couple times and brushing the underside on a washout it handled it pretty good even getting up on 3 wheels a couple times.

My tent on the other hand definitely needs a different mattress, the memory foam that comes with the Yakima skyrise is way too firm especially as a side sleeper.

I feel the need for a solar shower would be nice for longer trips aswell as stuff like dishes or washing off after walking on sand. I believe that will be next.

As long as my buddy can get his 4runner fixed we will be doing another couple day trip next weekend this time a little more challenging.

Mavericks get it done for sure. We loved our Tremor out in Moab. Picking it up at the dock tomorrow morning. Then we will tackle our infamous driveway! Looks like you had a great trip. I miss our RTT camping. But our lives are kinda camp like here in jungle. Also love that body color painted plastics.

Really enjoying your post & the great photos. I'm waiting for my 24 Ecoboost with AWD & 4K tow pkg (original order date 9/29/22). I do a yearly trip to the mountains in northern NV. Looking forward to possibly building a teardrop camper. Meanwhile, I'm interested in the Yakima tent. Which one specifically fits your Maverick so we'll? Thanks.

Thanks, This one is a Yakima skyrise medium 3. 2 people comfortably fit with room 3 would be pretty cramped

Oh! One more thing. How about that nice rack you perch the tent on? Appreciate you.

Did you remove hitch and keep in cab after catching it? If so, did that solve your issue?

I actually just left it on because it was just to the entrance of the clear cut I took some photos in and we where done exploring the day after that. Without it I'm sure it wouldn't have hit

Awesome set up, awesome trip!

Solar showers, or rather the solar bag (black bag) are great for keeping the water warm but check out one of these guys -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BTRHLC15/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

While we wait (and wait and wait) for a contractor to finish the septic field and grade our property in the mountains of NC - we visit often and that little guy is a total game changer.

I use a 5 gal bucket but you can use anything that holds a gallon or more and it will give you pressure and stream like you're at home!

I still bring my black solar bag to hang in the sun during the day to warm up water but again the rechargeable pump takes so many notches above.

Just saw a DIY hot water build using 4in or greater snake of long sided U shaped pipes. he used a battery powered pressure pump to form a shower on the other end.

Cousin has something similar on his Tundra overland set up, but he put a little hand pump to generate some pressure.
