Just bought an Maverick hybrid and I love it, but concerned about the longevity of the battery. Can anyone share experiences especially those with high mileage hybrid Mavericks. I'd like to keep the truck 200,000 miles that whole thing the batteries would last that long I do high miles driving about 50k a year, so I'm hoping I get a solid for years.

The 12V battery has a BMS programming error that causes sulfation and early death, typically around the 1-year mark. So you're going to be putting a lot of T4 batteries in the truck over its lifetime.

The powertrain high-voltage drive battery control is much better designed, and should last at least 12 years, and maybe as much as 20 years.

The little battery in the keyfob and in the outside optional keypad on the 24-up models should last about 10 years in normal use. The keypad one is a bear to change.

I have a 2023 Maverick XLT hybrid. I drive 600 - 800 miles a week, and I have 130,000 miles in 2.5 years. Two weeks ago, I had an engine light and a service light come on with P0B24 code, I took the car to dealer. They said the battery was bad and needed to replace it. The estimate was almost $6,000. I had a $6000 extended warranty, but the battery was not covered. The CA hybrid battery law has 10 years/150,000 miles warranty, but the Ford did not honor the law. I am going to fix at local hybrid repair shop at $4000. You can find a cheaper refurbished battery around $1,000 to $1500, but I drive a lot, I decided to replace a new one. The Maverick is a new car, and it is not easy to find a good refurbished battery. The hybrid shop mechanic said the battery starts going bad around 130,000 miles depends on driving condition and model. I also wished to drive around 200,000 miles, but not this car. I had 2016 Sonata Hybrid, and the battery was fine until I sold it at 190k miles. I also found on google that the Maverick battery was designed to last at least 150,000 miles.

Yes. I searched on internet. Not every dealer honor that law. This dealer, Ken Grody, stick to 8 years/ 100k miles. No negociation.

Did you purchase the Maverick in California or another state? I ask because California law only applies to vehicles sold NEW in the state. So if you move to California with a 1 day old hybrid it is not covered.
Yes. I live in S. CA and bought this car new in Buena Park, CA. The Ford dealer showed me the article of CA 10 years/150K warranty only applies PZEV not regular hybrid. However, I saw different stories of hybrid too. It's all mixed.

I talk to a Ford Customer service consumer advocate, and he said the dealer had to replace it free but it depends how to negociate with dealer. The dealer only offered me $500 discount. I saw on internet a Honda Civic hybrid owner with a 107k miles battery said he got a battery replacement for free under CA 150k miles law, and he had to fight for this too. Mine was over 130k. I guess the dealer did replace the battery because it was close to 100k mile warranty not because of 150k warranty.

Sounds like you ‘Allowed’ a dealer to screw you over.
130,000 miles is way too soon for any manufacturer’s battery to fail.
Used to work with a guy who drove 80K a year in a Prius he bought used with 50,000 miles.
He replaced the power battery at 275,000 miles because its range was degrading. Imagine that !
He drove that Prius to 500,000 miles and traded in on a new one.
The dealer kept his car as a demo and told customers the battery was replaced for $2,100 at 275K.
Most freaked out that the car lasted a half million miles.

i just looked up the hybrid battery warranty (8y/100K). my personal experience with two hybrids before is they begin to go bad around 150,000 miles, so that is my expectation.

but the part where someone quoted you $6,000 for a hybrid battery replacement seems like it is missing information, like perhaps other components and/or services are bundled into the final price.

i would guess a new battery plus professional installation will run you ~$2,500 out the door

Yes. Toyota hybrid system is the best. I had a 2016 Sonata Hybrid, and the battery was no problem until I sold it a few years ago, the mileage was 190k. I read an article on google that the Maverick battery was designed to work at least 150k. I am not sure if Ford uses a cheaper battery.

My plan is to trade this at 7.5 years or 90,000 miles. Right now, I’d get another one. We’ll see how I feel 6-7 years from now.
