I thought that thing you pull was for 2.0 gas only engine not hybrid so there is one for hybrid?? I guess I have to look on mine.

As far as key in ignition NEVER has the key been in when I hit button. I pull up to gas pump remove keys open driver door THEN hit button to see gas door pop open.
I’ve been on MTC for a year now and some of the stuff, no most of the stuff just confuses me that gets posted. My 24 Eco has never had a little green tampon string in the wheel well for the fuel door, my OWNERS MANUAL told me so! It said HYBRID ONLY. I thank my parents for sending me to “Skule” so I could learn to read. 😉

How interesting since I guess the ecoboost doesn't have a buttpn to release the gas door..Just push and pop...
The hybrid has to release pressure within fuel tank. The pressure is released to allow the fuel filler nozzle to be inserted easier and without fumes being ejected under pressure from around the filler nozzle. The pressure helps keep the fuel fresher longer.

So does that mean they do pr don't have the special filler tube?

The hybrid does have the special "funnel" for manual filling if needed. The pressure within the fuel tank has to be released so the service station filler nozzle can be more easily and safely inserted.

You have to have keys in the ignition and on to use the emergency fuel door tether.

You do not need keys or fob to open the hybrids fuel door, just press the button once you're inside the vehicle.
In post #1 the OP never said he was locked out or didn't have keys.
Glen is a very helpful guy.

But Glen, you read the book but didn't do your homework.

The green pull tab is completely mechanical. No keys needed. No ignition power needed. Nada. Pull tab, door opens.
I just verified. Truck was locked. No keys within 100 yards.

Shhhhhh. Don't tell the kids.

(Unknown it you'd need keys and power to refuel or siphon, because it's dark out and I don't feel like trying either.)

I believed the manual.
May Ford needs to be notify of your discovery. I wonder what fords reasoning was.
Good to know

I'll let you know either way if my truck doesn't start or blows up tomorrow for not following the directions.

Joking of course.

It will start. I have no reason to believe it won't.
That said, I also had no reason to not believe the manual. I've never had a problem with any of my hybrid's fuel door release mechanisms.

FYI: The wife had accident where someone hit the driver side rear panel in lariat hybrid which had to be replaced (Took $12722.46). The filler valve had to be moved to the replacement. The bolts holding it are one time use and are separately UNAVAILABLE! Body shop had to purchase the entire assembly which was $250-$300 I don't remember exactly just to get the bolts. I assume they installed the new replacement assembly but ??? I find it interesting that the manual requires the ignition to be on while opening the filler door manually. I assume this is to insure that the alarm is off and the truck won't complain and/or will not report someone messing with truck.

That or...

To let "pressure" out gradually or something if it were a hot day. I did mine at night after sitting for a few hours. Absolutely nothing happened besides the door opening.

And truck and fuel gauge and MTE completely normal today.
