Searching for luxury I traded my 23 lariat for a new 25 Explorer Platinum with the 400hp twin turbo ecoboost engine. Had looked at a ST but they had a platinum V6 loaded in rapid red and I couldn't resist. If you fold both sets of seats it has more flat floor room than my Maverick.If they would put that 400hp engine in a Maverick it would be very fast, but the Explorer is RWD with the front being the AWD, just the reverse of the AWD Maverick.

Friends have a new ST/Explorer- I drove it a few times, very nicely outfitted- ventilated seats- Built in back window shades- Tons of power but here in Utah using 85 octane it was definitely pinging - Told them to get some better gas-

I was told that the twin turbo 400 horsepower engine would not be available except in the ST. The one I bought in a Platinum luxury model with the same engine but this year could be the last. I don't know what is in the police package. All the local police explorers here are hybrids with AWD.

You need at least 90 octane. 87 won't work. Too much turbo boost.

Yeah I sure wouldn't buy an Escape.

Any problems an Aviator might have - the Explorer would have the same.
