Knee jerk?

I know in my case, Ford's lackluster support for the vehicle caused me to lose confidence. Parts were very hard to get and the service staff not familiar with the vehicle. There seemed to be a disdain for the Maverick at several dealerships.

I can certainly empathize with the OP and clearly see the logic in his decision. It is very frustrating to get a new vehicle, in his case, not the first model year, experience a breakdown, and see dumbfounded service staff scratching their heads.
What is your proof of "lackluster support"? Provide examples please. I have experienced NONE of the issues you complain about. Some folks just like to complain....

My "examples" are well documented on the forum. Good for you for having NONE of the issues I've referred to, but they are REAL and I don't complain for the sake of complaining.

A month and a half of my Maverick being at multiple Ford dealerships without resolving the harness issue and also getting trashed with the airbag recall (yes, there are photo examples on the forum), are indicative of the lackluster support that I experienced.

I was very positive about my early Maverick experience and contributed some decent content to the forum, particularly in the audio section, before the experience soured over six months of frequently jump starting my "new" truck.

Think about that before accusing one of "liking to complain". I much preferred spending my time and energy on positive content as evidenced by my content.

That said, it probably is time for me to move on.

I feel your pain. I've had a similar issue with a 2014 Volt when the dealers stopped being able to get parts. A brand new Maverick? That makes no sense....though it reminds me I have a recall notice because my Mav may catch fire and explode, but dealer tells me that Ford has not notified them of the fix yet. I got the Mav because Honda never sold the Ridgeline Hybrid I wanted. Now they may- thanks to the Maverick.

Enjoy the Civic! I have been thinking about a Prius Prime myself....
I have a Prius prime, 2021. I just ordered a maverick, Im beginning to wonder if I am making a mistake. Seems everyone is having issues.

Not everyone, just the chronic complainers. Mine has been perfect.

I don't know if I'd say it's chronic complainers. It's well known that a percentage of all things made in mass production have flaws, it's almost unavoidable. If it's designed/made by humans there will be problems, simple as that. Some more issues than others that's all. Places like this basically exist because people want to learn about issues with a vehicle, if they have one that want to know if someone else also had that problem, so it's easier to find a solution. It's also well known that people who have issues tend to be more vocal than those that don't, since the people without issues don't have much to add. On top of that some of the people with issues will run into terrible dealerships that are hopeless, it's a game of numbers.

We have a '21 Prime LE - which we'd sell when the '23 Mav XL gets built (10/9...)
Tough choice - that Prius Prime is so darn efficient and was an incredible deal, plus we have solar, so having a plug-in is awesome for "free" around town miles. (plus base Prius has ACC - eff you Ford!)
We'll see what the Prime's value is when the Mav comes in and see if that sways us one way or the other...

Not everyone has issues.
Just a small percentage.
You have to expect that with new models
I think you should still get one.

So, we aren't gonna know the issue with the 23 Mav he traded in we can assume. :cautious:
All of us first time Maverick owners are the guinea pigs. We won't really know what we're dealing with until about the 3-5 year mark. Radio glitches I can deal with. The Maverick better not throw too many weird surprises. This is my first (personal) Ford product and will be the make it or break it for future Ford purchases. My husband loved/loves the F150's we've had so far. One was a 1989 that we bought for $2200 and dumped about another $1600 into for the five years we owned it. Sad to give it up but ol' "Big Bitch Bertha" was starting to leave him stranded on the way to work, and when that starts happening it's time to part ways. Traded Bertha in for more than we paid and upgraded him to a very lightly used 2016 F150 XLT with 20K miles in 2017. Bought that truck for $20K - ain't nobody getting a Ford150 for that kind of money in today's economy.

I think it makes sense what you guys have said. People are more likely to be vocal about the issues. Also with a new model year they must have fixed some bugs too. The price went up, maybe they are using different parts this coming year .
The Prius is a very efficient and reliable vehicle, but can't do the things a maverick would.
Also the Prius will give me a good trade in to lower the maverick cost.

If I lose confidence in a vehicle its outta here, peace of mind is what's important.
It's just a truck like it's just a Civic but you need to be comfortable with what you drive. :)
